Apigee Developer / Integration Engineer

Role Overview  We are looking for an experienced Apigee Developer / Integration Engineer with strong expertise in API development, management, security, and integration. The role will design, develop, deploy, and support APIs using the Google Cloud Apigee platform while ensuring scalability, security, performance, and adherence to API standards.

Key Responsibilities

·   Design, develop, configure, and deploy APIs and API proxies using Apigee.

·   Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integration solutions based on business and technical requirements.

·   Configure Apigee policies for security, traffic management, transformation, routing, caching, and error handling.

·   Implement API security using OAuth 2.0, JWT, API Keys, TLS/mTLS, and other applicable security standards.

·   Create reusable API proxy components, shared flows, and common integration patterns.

·   Support API lifecycle activities including design, development, testing, deployment, versioning, monitoring, and maintenance.

·   Integrate APIs with backend applications, cloud services, databases, and enterprise systems.

·   Troubleshoot API failures, performance issues, connectivity problems, and production incidents.

·   Monitor API performance and usage using Apigee analytics, logging, and monitoring capabilities.

·   Collaborate with architects, application teams, integration teams, security teams, and business stakeholders.

·   Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to API development, security, and governance standards.

·   Maintain technical documentation including API specifications, configurations, deployment details, and support procedures.

·   Support CI/CD and automated deployment processes across development, testing, and production environments.

Required Skills

·   Strong hands-on experience with Apigee, such as Apigee X, Apigee Edge, or Hybrid.

·   Good understanding of API management and API lifecycle management.

·   Experience developing REST APIs and working with JSON, XML, HTTP/HTTPS, and web services.

·   Knowledge of Apigee policies, proxy endpoints, target endpoints, shared flows, and flow hooks.

·   Experience with API security concepts including OAuth 2.0, JWT, API Keys, TLS/mTLS, and access controls.

·   Understanding of OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.

·   Experience with API troubleshooting, monitoring, logging, and performance optimization.

·   Knowledge of Git and CI/CD tools/processes.

·   Good understanding of cloud and enterprise integration concepts.

·   Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

·   Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Apigee X.

·   Knowledge of JavaScript, Java, Python, or similar programming/scripting technologies.

·   Experience with DevOps and deployment automation tools.

·   Understanding of microservices and cloud-native architecture.

·   Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.

Qualifications

·   Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.

·   Relevant hands-on experience in Apigee/API development and integration.

·   Apigee or Google Cloud certifications would be an added advantage.
