Job description

About the Role

Maleda Tech is hiring a Senior Security Engineer to join a fast-paced Threat Detection and Response function supporting a major technology organization. This team sits on the front line of security operations - detecting, investigating, and responding to threats against sensitive data, systems, and infrastructure. In this role, you'll help build out a new, world-class insider threat program from the ground up, shaping detection capabilities that will scale across a large, complex environment.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a security professional who wants to move beyond reactive response and help define how an organization identifies and mitigates insider risk.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify visibility gaps across the environment and partner with business teams to close them through improved logging and detection coverage
  • Participate in an on-call rotation providing 24/7 threat detection and incident response coverage
  • Apply coding, data analytics, and investigative skills to hunt, detect, and respond to insider threats
  • Develop detection logic to identify data abuse and data exfiltration at scale
  • Build automation and detection models to identify anomalous activity and support response efforts
  • Proactively hunt for insider threats across corporate and production environments
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to design advanced detection solutions, and partner closely with HR and Legal on complex investigations
  • Design and consult on countermeasures to mitigate insider threat risk
  • Contribute to security awareness messaging and training initiatives
  • Provide subject-matter expertise during insider threat incident response activities

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in security operations, including detection engineering, threat hunting, incident response, digital forensics, and/or threat intelligence
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • Exposure to data science and analytics approaches applied to insider threat detection
  • Experience with insider threat technologies such as Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA)
  • Solid understanding of how insider threat and incident response coordinate during active investigations
  • Working knowledge of insider threat challenges specific to consumer-facing (B2C) companies
  • Familiarity with the Cyber Kill Chain and MITRE ATT&CK frameworks and their application to insider threat scenarios
  • Experience automating security detection and response workflows
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL; hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS) preferred
  • Strong self-direction, organization, and prioritization skills, with the ability to stay composed and effective in high-stress situations

Key Details

  • Start Date: September 22, 2026
  • Engagement Length: Approximately 12 months (through September 21, 2027)
  • Location: Remote (within the US)
  • Schedule: 40 hours/week, 8 hours/day, Monday-Friday
  • Pay Rate: $130-$142/hour (USD), depending on experience
  • Work Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
