Job description

Ciklum is looking for a JavaScript Engineer to join our team full-time in Ukraine.

About the role:

As a JavaScript Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the technical direction, architecture, tooling, and governance of the design system
  • Collaborate with Design, Product, Architecture, and Engineering to ensure components are reusable, accessible, performant, and aligned to standards
  • Support developers, review implementation quality, manage releases and breaking changes, and maintain clear technical documentation
  • Develop product, deliver features and defects fixes according to the product roadmap with defined standards
  • Create tests for the features and follows the established code quality rules/metrics
  • Identify and suggest possible solutions to resolve different types of issues (performance, CI/CD, etc)
  • Develop and review feature design documentation and provide inputs/updates to specifications for the solution

Requirements:

  • HTML - Understands the purpose and use of all HTML elements. Able to explain the importance of the correct HTML for subjects such as SEO and Accessibility
  • CSS - Advanced/expert level skills. Understanding of CSS architecture best practice. Knowledge of all aspects of the language and up to date with the latest features
  • JavaScript - Core understanding of the native language. Proficient in TypeScript. Knowledge of web components. Ability to assess third-party libraries or frameworks for their appropriateness and can explain the pros/cons of their use
  • Usage of modern framework React or Angular or Vue and its ecosystem
  • Strong knowledge of Web Components, design systems, component libraries, and scalable front-end architecture
  • Practical accessibility experience, including WCAG 2.2 AA, ARIA, keyboard navigation, focus management, and screen reader testing
  • Strong understanding of web performance, Core Web Vitals, optimisation techniques, and resilient web design
  • Experience with automated testing, release management, documentation, and engineering governance
  • Following best practices and defined standards for implementing the web application
  • Hands-on experience in writing unit/integration tests
  • Ability to spot the issues using the DevTools
  • Experience in following the CI/CD process and identifying potential errors

Desirable:

  • Experience with Contentful or similar headless CMS platforms
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence
  • Internationalisation practices (i18n)
  • Performance optimization techniques (critical CSS extraction, lazy loading etc.)

  • Has working-level contact with customers and colleagues
  • May supervise others or make decisions which impact the work assigned to individuals or phases of projects
  • Performs a range of work, sometimes complex and non-routine

  • Plans, schedules and monitors own work (and that of others where applicable) competently
  • Contributes fully to the work of teams
