About Empowered Services 

Empowered Services provides one-on-one in-home and community-based support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our focus is to hire and train Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to help people build independence, maintain routines, and stay connected to their communities in meaningful ways.


Role Overview 

We are hiring an entry-level Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide consistent, structured care for individuals of all ages in the Yamhill County area. (No prior DSP experience required – paid training provided.)    


This role centers around: 

  • Supporting daily routines and household structure 
  • Assisting with community-based activities and errands 
  • Encouraging independence while maintaining clear expectations 
  • Behavioral support 
  • Emotional regulation 
  • Crisis support 


This is a strong fit for someone who is consistent, patient, and confident maintaining boundaries in a supportive way


Here are some examples of the current customers that are available:

  • Customer 466: Adolescent male in Portland is in need of assistance general support and self regulation. Customer also needs assistance learning acceptable social skills and cues to eat. Schedule may look like 4-6 hours per day, Monday-Friday. 
  • Customer 470: Adult female in Portland that needs assistance with working on fine motor skills and pronunciation. Customer also needs help with meal planning/prep, laundry and other household tasks. Customer likes to go to the library. Your schedule may look like Saturdays and Sundays 11am-6pm, Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays 2pm-8pm. 
  • Customer 181: Adult female in Fairview who would benefit from a dependable and hands on provider. Customer is mostly immobile so provider will need to be comfortable with personal hygiene tasks. Customer loves to laugh and is very engaging. Your schedule might look like Monday-Friday, 9am to 3pm. 
  • Customer 412: Adolescent male in Portland who loves to tell jokes, draw and build Legos. Customer does best with a provider who can set clear boundaries and maintain consistent rules. The schedule may look like Monday-Wednesday 4pm-8pm. 
  • Customer 342: Adult customer in Portland who values a positive and trusting relationship with their provider. Provider should offer encouragement around art and suggest outings to align with customer's hobbies. The schedule will be discussed during a meet and greet. 
  • Customer 392: Adult male in Gresham who has a deep passion for recycling and being good stewards of the planet. Customer needs supports around the house with everyday tasks and getting out into the community. Your schedule will be flexible, 3 days per week, afternoons to 8pm. 
  • Customer 408: Young adult female in Portland who loves music, singing and Taekwondo. Customer thrives on routine and a set schedule and needs redirection to stay on task. Your schedule may look Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3pm-6pm. 
  • Customer 373: Adolescent Male in Gresham who does best with routines and support during unexpected changes. Customer needs reminders and some assistance with personal hygiene tasks. Customer needs assistance with building fine motor skills. Your schedule may look like Thursdays and Fridays, 4pm-8pm and Saturdays, 10am-2pm


  What You’ll Do 

  • Support daily living routines (meals, hygiene, organization) 
  • Assist with community access (shopping, errands, outings) 
  • Provide emotional regulation support using calm, structured approaches 
  • Maintain clear boundaries and consistent expectations 
  • Assist with household upkeep and organization 
  • Encourage independence and personal responsibility 
  • Communicate updates with care teams and complete required documentation 
  • Help maintain a safe, predictable, and respectful environment 


  Compensation & Benefits 

  • $23–$25 per hour (based on experience and qualifications) 
  • Paid training 
  • Flexible schedule based upon the customers needs 


Full-time employees (30+ hours/week) may be eligible for:

  Qualifications:  

  • Must be 18 years or older 
  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation 
  • Current auto insurance (meeting state requirements) 
  • Ability to pass a background check (not all records are disqualifying) 
  • Comfortable supporting personal care needs  


Preferred: 

  • Experience in caregiving, DSP, behavioral support, or IDD roles 
  • Experience supporting individuals with I/DD 
  • Strong communication and boundary-setting skills 
  • CPR/First Aid certification
