Position Summary & Core Requirements:
We are seeking a Senior Oracle SQL / PL/SQL Developer with a proven track record of writing highly optimized database code. In this role, you will be responsible for engineering efficient data retrieval processes and fine-tuning complex queries within an Oracle environment. A deep, foundational understanding of Oracle indexing strategies and data retrieval optimization is mandatory.
Beyond writing clean code, you must possess a rigorous, methodical approach to performance engineering. You should intimately understand how to baseline, measure, and test query execution metrics to support iterative tuning cycles.
Key Responsibilities & Qualifications:
• Advanced Oracle Engineering: Extensive experience designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, and triggers for enterprise-scale Oracle databases.
• SQL Tuning & Optimization: Expert-level ability to analyze, rewrite, and optimize complex, slow-performing SQL queries to minimize CPU, I/O, and memory consumption.
• Performance Measurement: Proficiency using Oracle diagnostic tools—such as Explain Plan, TKPROF, SQL Trace, Autotrace, and AWR/ASH reports—to measure, benchmark, and iteratively test query performance.
• Indexing & Storage Strategies: Solid understanding of Oracle indexing mechanisms (B-tree, Bitmap, Function-Based, Covered Indexes) and data access paths (Full Table Scans, Index Scans, Hash Joins) to maximize data retrieval efficiency. Database provisioning.
• Iterative Tuning Methodology: Ability to establish performance baselines, formulate tuning hypotheses, execute controlled tests, and document measurable improvements.
• Application performance monitoring and tuning: Experience tuning applications including .NET, C#, and Citrix environments.
