As a Steel Framing Civil/Structural Draftsperson, you will play a key role in transforming engineering concepts into accurate construction drawings and documentation that support the successful delivery of residential and commercial projects.
In this role, you will work closely with project managers, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors to develop detailed CAD drawings, construction documentation, material take-offs, and design solutions. You will be responsible for ensuring all drawings meet project requirements, applicable Australian standards, building codes, and company quality standards while maintaining efficiency and accuracy throughout the design process.
You will join a collaborative and fast-paced team dedicated to delivering high-quality steel framing solutions. • Produce technical drawings and models based on sketches, specifications and calculations based ondesign parameters provided by team members.
• Make necessary changes to designs while checking and verifying that drawing conform to specifications and quality standards.
• Coordinate with team members to establish design requirements, background documents, and assure coordination of the design effort.
• Create detailed reports, calculate material amounts and costs and prepare construction specifications and timelines.
• Provide technical assistance and solutions to the team members where needed.
• Help to identify material design issues/conflicts.
• Prepare documents for submissions.
• Utilize project management software for all aspects of delivery.
• Creating accurate CAD drawings from hand sketches, verbal instructions, and site visits.
• Seamlessly integrating and working with project managers design consultants, and sub-contractors, to produce and alter drawings.
• Thinking creatively and critically to support the project/sales team in the design process, to create sketches and drawings that work.
• Creating and continually updating project drawings lists.
• Printing various formats of drawing sets for project managers and site managers.
• Systematically saving sketches and drawings on our CAD server; keeping the server organized; updating project folders and files as jobs progress and revisions are made.
• Exhaustively reviewing and checking sketches and drawings for errors, before being sent to architects, subcontractors, project managers, etc.
• Seeking clarity and understanding from engineers and project managers when you are not 100% certain of something.
• Organizing and uploading drawings to web-based storage sites/collaboration project sites to share drawings with project and subcontractors.
• Create, edit, and update standard details for use in projects.
• A sound understanding of relevant Australian standards and applicable building codes.
• Outstanding communication skills and flexibility to work across a broad range of technical projects.
• Proven experience in a similar drafting role previously.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in drafting is desirable.
• Communication and Collaboration with all interested parties.
• Problem-Solving and adaptability, provide solutions on the run.
