Job description

This position is approved for remote work.  The Associate Project Manager works as part of an integrated project team providing direct support to the U.S. Forest Service (USFS), Plumas National Forest (PNF) to support the Protect and Recovery Project. Personnel shall work with S&K and federal staff to consolidate project requirements to support the federal budget formulation, execution, and reporting processes; work with management and technical staff to plan, estimate, and schedule work; and support the Contracting Officer (CO) and Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) as requested.  

The Associate Project Manager will provide support to the Project Manager and USFS Leadership to provide a broad range of services including processing, tracking, and reporting project data; analyzing reported cost and schedule performance; coordinating subcontracting efforts; and communicating trends or issues to USFS. 

A sample of the duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Provide overall planning, integration, technical expertise, analysis of operations, and contribute to all aspects of the planning, programming, budgeting, and execution system for all assigned projects.
  •  Prepare project plans with common tools like Microsoft Project, Excel, and Microsoft Word.
  • Analyze and assess matters with budgetary, funding, and/or policy implications for US Forest Service (USFS) programs and activities.
  •  Identify project risks/issues and carry out studies to identify ways of reducing or solving issues.
  •  Deliver projects to successful completion in alignment with strategic and operational goals through planning, coordinating, and managing enterprise resources to achieve desired project outcomes.
  • Review/formulate guidance to develop an integrated budget, both on a long-term and short-term basis; develop contingency plans to allow for variables and avoid serious adverse consequences.
  •  Facilitate regular meetings, following up on tasks/issues, and transfer important information to senior management.
  • Provide current/future-year spending plans, readjust spending plans as changes in funding occur. Advise senior management on the status of fiscal resources/future requirements.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a closely related field is required.

Experience

  • Seven (7) years of combined experience related to project management, finance management, natural resource management, federal contract management. 
  • CO/COR qualifications and/or experience, preferred
