Job description

**This position is eligible for remote. Candidate must be located in Washington, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, or Oregon**

 

“A Day in the Life”

As a Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing projects from pre-bid through Contract to Completion, with full ownership for scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. This role owns project outcomes from Notice-to-Proceed through closeout. Acts as the primary decision-maker for execution strategies, staffing, sequencing, and subcontractor alignment.

You will utilize BuilderTrend to track project progress, manage documentation, and facilitate communication across teams and stakeholders. The Senior Project Manager proactively manages risks, issues, and project change requests to ensure successful, on‑time, and on‑budget delivery. In addition to running projects day‑to‑day, this role serves as a senior escalation point, providing guidance, mentorship, and strategic direction to project teams while ensuring projects meet quality standards, contractual obligations, and deliver the highest level of customer satisfaction.

 

“What You’ll Do”

  • Own and manage project P&L performance including forecasting, cost-to-complete, contingency usage, and margin protection.
  • Provide direct people leadership and performance management for Project Managers and Site Superintendents, including hiring, coaching, development, and accountability. 
  • Oversee multiple projects and project teams simultaneously, ensuring alignment with regional goals, standards, and best practices. 
  • Serve as a senior escalation point and decision authority for complex project issues regarding scope, schedule impacts, permitting, inspections, jurisdictional constraints, budget, staffing, and client expectations. 
  • Be directly involved in the pre-bid phase of projects, including review of plans and specifications, constructability input, scheduling strategies, and risk identification. 
  • Partner with estimating and operations leadership to support project pricing, bid strategy, and competitive positioning during the estimating process. 
  • Participate in go/no-go discussions and recommend bid strategies based on constructability and risk profile.
  • Oversee site readiness including permitting, AHJ coordination, utilities, crane/set planning, access, and inspections.
  • Lead identification of scope gaps, exclusions, assumptions, and clarifications during pre-bid and contract review phases.
  • Review and validate project budgets, schedules, and scopes prior to contract execution to ensure feasibility and margin expectations. 
  • Provide strategic guidance to project teams to optimize cost control, schedule performance, and subcontractor management across the project lifecycle. 
  • Lead customer-facing discussions regarding scope clarifications, change orders, delays, and risk mitigation strategies, particularly with public-sector and school district clients.
  • Collaborate with regional and executive leadership to support workload planning, staffing strategies, and operational improvements.
  • Establish and enforce safety requirements to ensure compliance with industry and company standards.
  • Lead/Assist with the development of Scopes of Work, Delineation of Responsibilities and Proposals for larger projects.
  • Track and report on project results and metrics.
  • Work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment demonstrating teamwork, innovation and excellence.
  • Utilizing available project management software (Builder Trend), provide status reporting to regional leadership regarding project milestones, deliverables, dependencies, risks and issues.
  • Demonstrate a functional and financial acumen to support how solutions will address client goals while maintaining alignment with industry best practices and company risk thresholds.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements and manage changes as required.
  • Manage project issues and risks to mitigate impact to baseline budgets.
  • Lead safety tailgate meetings at the start of each project phase or shift to communicate site-specific hazards, review safety protocols, and promote a culture of safety. 
  • Ensure all job site activities comply with OSHA and company safety standards to maintain a safe working environment for all.
  • This role supports projects across a Region with frequent travel to active job sites during critical phases. Regional travel to job sites will be required (approximately 50%)

“Must Haves”

  • 5- 8 years construction related experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of people leadership experience, including direct management, coaching, and development of Project Managers and/or Superintendents.
  • Extensive understanding of project and program management principles, methods and techniques.
  • Proven experience managing and developing Project Managers and/or Superintendents. 
  • Demonstrated experience supporting preconstruction activities, including estimating, bidding, or pre-bid planning. 
  • Proven ability to lead projects through inspections, closeout, and owner turnover.
  • Experience leading multiple concurrent projects across multiple jurisdictions and ADJs with high levels of complexity. 
  • Strong working knowledge of subcontracted trades including civil, electrical, plumbing, crane/set crews, and modular installation activities.
  • Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to influence project and operational decisions at a senior level.
  • Excellent leadership, communication (written, verbal, and presentation) and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands.
  • Technically competent with MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project Management Software.
  • Team-building skills with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with excellent prioritization and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to and understanding of safety field concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Well organized with excellent customer service skills.
  • Skilled at negotiation with customers and vendors/subcontractors.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects.
  • Experience at directing the work of others to ensure project completion and success.
  • Rely on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction plans.

 

 "Nice to Haves"

  • Modular building industry experience, including set, tie‑down, and site coordination
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management
  • Experience working with school districts, municipalities, or other government authorities.
  • Familiarity with ADA compliance, accessibility coordination, and site compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge in Division of State Architect (DSA)
  • Knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC)
  • OSHA 30 Certified
  • Knowledge of approval agencies and process for State Requirements
  • Experience with Bluebeam and CAD software for reviewing and interpreting construction drawings and plans. 


Physical Requirements:

  • Perform sustained physical activity and maintain manual dexterity throughout the workday.
  • Stand and walk for prolonged periods and bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and balance as required.
  • Climb stairs and ladders, use construction personnel hoists, and navigate uneven or unfinished work areas.
  • Handle tools, equipment, and materials and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Possess close, distance, and peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Hear alarms, bells, whistles, and verbal instructions in active construction environments.
  • Work indoors or outdoors, at elevated heights, and in varying weather, noise, odor, dust, or fume conditions.
  • Work extended hours, weekends, or provide emergency on-call support based on operational needs.
