This is a remote position.

About the Role

We are looking for an Estimator / Quantity Take-Off Specialist to join a growing estimating team within a commercial plumbing company. The role will initially focus heavily on quantity take-offs and reviewing construction documentation, with the opportunity to progressively take on full estimating and pricing responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and tender documentation to understand project requirements.
  • Conduct accurate and detailed quantity take-offs for materials, equipment, and other project requirements.
  • Identify and quantify relevant components from drawings and documentation, ensuring take-offs are complete and accurate.
  • Assist in preparing project estimates and tender submissions, progressing towards independently managing estimates.
  • Develop project pricing using the company’s established estimating rates, cost databases, and pricing systems.
  • Calculate and incorporate labour, material, and supplier costs into project estimates.
  • Obtain, review, and follow up supplier quotations and pricing to support accurate and competitive estimates.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to clarify pricing, quantities, specifications, and project requirements.
  • Maintain accurate estimating records and ensure pricing information is kept up to date.


Requirements

  • Previous experience in estimating and/or quantity take-offs.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings and tender documentation.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and project documentation.
  • Engineering or other technical background is highly regarded.
  • Experience using Bluebeam is advantageous, particularly for quantity take-offs.
  • Experience with other estimating, take-off, or project management software will also be considered.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with quantities and project information.
  • Good communication skills, particularly when liaising with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proactive approach with a willingness to learn new systems, processes, and technical requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
