Position Overview 

The Director of Finance leads the accounting and finance function and the international team behind it, owning financial operations, planning, and controls across multiple international entities. This is a senior leadership role, reporting to the CFO, responsible for both the health of the numbers and the development of the team delivering them. You'll set the standard for how finance operates across the business: accurate, timely, well-controlled, and scalable. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting and financial planning capabilities with the leadership to build and grow a distributed team as the business scales and brings familiarity with Quebec requirements given the company's home base and experience managing across borders and time zones.

What You’ll Own and Drive 

1. Finance Leadership & Team Management 

• Lead the finance function and manage an international team, including finance leads and their reports across multiple countries. 
• Own hiring, development, performance management, and succession planning across the team. 
• Set structure, standards, and priorities for the function, coordinating effectively across borders and time zones. 
• Build a high-performing, cohesive finance team culture, ensuring coverage, continuity, and clear accountability across jurisdictions. 

2. Financial Operations & Controls 

• Own accounting operations end to end, including accounts payable, payments, reconciliation, and month-end and year-end close, across multiple countries and currencies. 
• Establish and maintain a strong, standardized control environment across all jurisdictions — segregation of duties, approval thresholds, and documented processes — so the function is resilient and repeatable as it scales. 
• Navigate country-specific tax, payment, and compliance requirements, including Quebec-specific obligations, in partnership with local advisors and internal teams. 
• Lead audits and ensure the function meets statutory and regulatory obligations in each market. 
• Serve as the senior point of coordination and escalation for cross-border financial matters. 

3. Planning, Reporting & Business Partnership 

• Partner with the CFO and senior leadership on financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting, connecting operations to the wider financial picture. 
• Deliver accurate, timely financial reporting and analysis to leadership and, where required, the Board. 
• Provide financial insight and challenge to support commercial and strategic decision-making. 
• Serve as a trusted finance partner to leaders across the business. 

4. Process, Systems & Improvement 

• Own the tools, systems, and workflows behind finance operations, driving improvement as the business scales. 
• Identify and lead automation and efficiency initiatives, reducing manual effort and error risk across the function. 
• Ensure finance systems and data are reliable, integrated, and fit for a growing multi-country operation. 

What you Bring 

• Extensive finance experience at a senior manager or director level, including ownership of financial operations and controls. 
• Proven team leadership experience, including managing managers or leads and building distributed teams. 
• Working knowledge of Quebec financial, tax, and regulatory requirements, or substantial prior experience operating in Quebec. 
• Demonstrated experience managing finance operations across multiple countries, currencies, and time zones. 
• Strong technical finance judgment paired with the ability to set standards and scale process. 
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to partner with the CFO and senior leadership and represent finance across the business. 

Nice to Have

• Experience as the senior finance owner of record for multiple legal entities — including statutory filings and local board reporting — across different countries. 
• Experience building and scaling a finance function for a growing enterprise SaaS business, including exposure to revenue operations and pricing. 
• A professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA) or equivalent. 
• Experience using AI tools to automate finance processes and support analysis and modelling — or, at minimum, genuine curiosity about applying AI to finance work.

The salary range listed in this posting is provided for informational purposes only. Final compensation will be determined based on a number of factors, including the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience, as well as internal equity, market conditions, and business needs.
