We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced biology and environmental science professionals with strong expertise in biological systems, ecology, environmental research, conservation, and scientific analysis.
This role focuses on reviewing professional documents, spreadsheets, and presentation materials related to biology and environmental science. Selected experts will assess outputs for scientific accuracy, analytical rigour, methodological soundness, contextual relevance, presentation quality, and overall professional credibility.
Key Responsibilities
Biology & Life Sciences Review

Evaluate biology-related work products for scientific accuracy, completeness, and professional quality

Assess whether biological concepts, interpretations, and conclusions are appropriately supported

Identify factual errors, unsupported assumptions, and gaps in scientific reasoning

Review materials involving organisms, populations, ecosystems, and biological processes

Apply professional judgement grounded in real-world biological science experience
Environmental Science

Review analyses involving environmental systems, ecological conditions, and human-environment interactions

Assess whether conclusions appropriately reflect relevant environmental factors and scientific evidence

Evaluate environmental recommendations for methodological and practical soundness

Identify incomplete analyses, weak assumptions, or unsupported claims

Review environmental findings for accuracy and appropriate context
Ecology & Conservation

Evaluate materials involving ecosystems, biodiversity, habitats, populations, and conservation

Assess ecological interpretations and supporting evidence

Review conservation strategies, environmental assessments, and related recommendations

Identify gaps in ecological reasoning or inappropriate generalisations

Scientific Research & Analysis

Review research-based materials for methodological and analytical quality

Assess whether evidence supports stated findings and conclusions

Review scientific arguments for clarity and internal consistency
Data & Spreadsheet Review

Evaluate spreadsheets and quantitative analyses supporting biological or environmental conclusions

Review calculations, assumptions, metrics, tables, and supporting data

Identify mathematical, analytical, or consistency errors

Assess whether quantitative results support stated findings

Evaluate the clarity and usability of scientific data summaries
Scientific Documents & Presentations

Evaluate scientific reports, documents, spreadsheets, and slide decks for accuracy and completeness

Review presentations for logical flow, scientific clarity, and professional quality

Identify factual, analytical, aesthetic, and formatting issues

Assess whether charts, tables, figures, and visualisations accurately represent underlying information

Ensure scientific findings and recommendations are clearly communicated
Structured Evaluation & Feedback

Assess assigned outputs against domain-specific quality criteria

Identify scientific, factual, analytical, methodological, and presentation weaknesses

Distinguish substantive scientific issues from minor editorial concerns

Provide clear, structured written feedback explaining identified strengths and weaknesses

Apply evaluation standards consistently across different biology and environmental science work products
Ideal Profile
-
5+ years of relevant professional experience in biology, environmental science, ecology, conservation science, or a closely related field
-
Experience as an Environmental Scientist, Biologist, Ecologist, Conservation Scientist, Marine Biologist, or similar scientific professional

Strong practical expertise in biology and/or environmental science

Experience developing or reviewing scientific analyses, environmental reports, research materials, datasets, or related professional work products

Ability to assess scientific content for factual accuracy, methodological quality, and analytical soundness

Strong quantitative and scientific judgement

Highly proficient with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

Advanced proficiency with PowerPoint / Google Slides

Strong spreadsheet and analytical skills

Native or professional fluency in English

Excellent written communication and ability to provide precise, structured feedback

Master's degree or higher from a recognised institution is advantageous

Compensation: $70–$110/hour
