Job description

This is a remote position.

About HeyDelegate

HeyDelegate is a staffing partner that connects growing US-based companies and agencies with highly skilled professionals from Africa.

We go beyond simply filling positions. We thoughtfully match companies with professionals who can integrate into their teams, take ownership of their responsibilities and contribute meaningfully to long-term growth. Our focus is on quality, strong communication, professional maturity and building successful working relationships.

As HeyDelegate enters its next stage of growth, we are looking for a Brand & Marketing Lead who can strengthen how the company is positioned, communicated and experienced across every key touchpoint.

About the Role

This is not a social media management or content coordination position.

We are looking for a strategic and hands-on brand marketer who can help define what HeyDelegate should be known for, sharpen how we communicate our value and translate that strategy into compelling campaigns, content and marketing assets.

You will work closely with the founder to understand the company’s vision, customers, services and competitive position. You will then take ownership of developing a distinctive brand and marketing direction that supports HeyDelegate’s growth among US-based agencies and other target companies.

The ideal candidate understands that branding is more than visual identity or consistent posting. You should be able to develop positioning, messaging, campaigns and narratives that influence how the market understands and remembers a company.

You must also be comfortable executing the strategy. This role requires someone who can move between high-level brand thinking and practical implementation without waiting for a large team or external agency.

This will begin as a contract-based engagement, with the opportunity for the scope and level of involvement to expand as the company grows and the working relationship develops.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Brand Positioning and Strategy

Develop and continuously strengthen HeyDelegate’s brand positioning, value proposition, messaging pillars, audience definition and competitive differentiation.

  2. Brand Narrative and Messaging

Create clear, distinctive messaging that communicates the quality of HeyDelegate’s talent, matching process, ongoing support and value as a long-term staffing partner.

  3. Campaign Development

Develop integrated brand and marketing campaigns that build awareness, credibility and trust among US-based agencies and other target clients.

  4. Content Strategy

Build and manage a content strategy across LinkedIn, email, the HeyDelegate website, case studies and other relevant channels. Content should be purposeful, insight-led and connected to the company’s broader commercial goals.

  5. Website Messaging and Brand Experience

Review and improve the structure, messaging and overall brand experience of the HeyDelegate website, ensuring that it clearly communicates the company’s positioning and supports lead generation.

  6. Case Studies and Sales Assets

Develop strong, proof-based case studies, service materials, presentations and other assets that demonstrate HeyDelegate’s capabilities and support the sales process.

  7. Customer and Market Research

Conduct ongoing research into HeyDelegate’s clients, prospective customers, competitors and market to identify insights that can strengthen the brand and inform future campaigns.

  8. Founder and Team Collaboration

Work closely with the founder and internal team to extract company insights, customer stories and subject-matter expertise, then translate them into effective brand communications. HeyDelegate should remain the central brand.

  9. Creative Direction

Provide clear strategic direction for visual assets, photography, video and design to ensure that all creative work supports a consistent and distinctive brand identity.

  10. Marketing Execution

Personally execute priority marketing initiatives while coordinating with designers, videographers, writers or other external partners where required.

  11. Performance Measurement

Establish appropriate brand and marketing metrics, evaluate campaign performance and use the findings to improve future strategy and execution.

  12. Brand Consistency

Ensure that HeyDelegate’s voice, positioning and presentation remain consistent across marketing, sales, recruitment and client-facing materials.

  13. Perform any other related brand and marketing responsibilities that may reasonably be required as the company grows.

Requirements

  • At least five years of relevant experience in brand strategy, brand management, strategic marketing, communications strategy or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience helping shape or reposition a brand, not only managing its social media accounts.
  • Strong understanding of brand positioning, audience segmentation, messaging architecture and campaign strategy.
  • Experience translating brand strategy into content, websites, email campaigns, case studies and sales materials.
  • Strong commercial judgment and an understanding of how brand and marketing support business growth.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research, critical-thinking and storytelling abilities.
  • Ability to work directly with a founder, organize incomplete ideas and turn them into clear strategic direction.
  • Ability to operate independently, make sound decisions and move work forward without constant supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow briefs and deadlines precisely.
  • A proactive and highly responsive working style.
  • Experience working with B2B service companies, staffing businesses, professional-services firms or agencies would be an advantage.
  • Experience marketing to US-based businesses would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity with website content, SEO, email marketing and marketing analytics is beneficial.
  • Candidates with backgrounds in brand strategy, advertising strategy, account planning, integrated marketing or strategic communications are encouraged to apply.

This Role May Not Be Suitable for You If

  • Your experience is primarily limited to scheduling social media posts and creating content calendars.
  • You view branding mainly as logos, colours and visual consistency.
  • You require a fully developed strategy before you can begin executing.
  • You are uncomfortable taking ownership of both strategic thinking and implementation.
  • You rely heavily on generic or AI-generated marketing language without developing an original point of view.
  • You struggle to communicate promptly, follow detailed briefs or meet deadlines.

Location

This is a remote position. Candidates based in Kenya, particularly those who can occasionally attend in-person meetings or content activities in Nairobi, are strongly preferred.

Exceptional candidates based elsewhere in Africa may also be considered.
