Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.

Who The Client Is: Our client is a well-established boutique accounting firm based in Sydney, Australia, providing specialist taxation, accounting, and advisory services to privately owned businesses, high-net-worth individuals, and family groups. Their work extends well beyond standard compliance, with a strong focus on complex business structures, strategic tax planning, and long-term client relationships.

The firm operates in a fully cloud-based environment and values initiative, autonomy, and long-term working relationships. Several existing team members are based in the Philippines and have been with the firm for many years.

Role Overview: We're looking for an experienced Senior Accountant with strong Australian public practice experience to join a high-performing accounting team.

This is a senior-level position where you'll manage complex Australian business clients, including structures with 20+ entities. The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, and comfortable taking ownership of complex accounting work with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage business tax compliance across companies, trusts, partnerships, and self-managed superannuation funds
  • Work with complex multi-entity group structures, including consolidated reporting and intercompany transactions
  • Prepare and review trust account reconciliations and distributions
  • Support tax planning and advisory work in collaboration with the firm's directors
  • Handle excise-related compliance where applicable

  • Liaise with the Australian Tax Office and other regulatory bodies as required
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation within the firm's practice management and workpaper systems

Requirements

  • CPA-qualified (or equivalent) with a strong foundation in Australian business tax
  • 5+ years of experience in a public practice or professional services environment, with direct exposure to Australian tax compliance
  • Proven experience working with trust accounts, complex entity structures, and group consolidations.
  • Strong knowledge of BAS, IAS, income tax returns, and financial statement preparation.
  • Proficiency in Xero, including multi-entity environments.
  • Experience with Active Work Papers or similar workpaper software is highly regarded.
  • Familiarity with Carbon or similar practice management software is an advantage.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while delivering accurate, high-quality work under pressure.
