Job description

We are looking for a highly capable and pragmatic HR Operations Manager to join us on a 12-month fixed term basis, supporting our recent German acquisition (Vidispine).

As a newly acquired business, Vidispine is at an early stage of integration into the Lumine Group.  This role will play a critical part in building and stabilising HR operations, combining hands-on delivery with the design and implementation of fit-for-purpose processes, documentation, and ways of working. You will partner closely with Group HR and local leadership to ensure that HR operations are effective, compliant, and aligned with Lumine standards.

Operating in a high-autonomy environment, you will take ownership of HR operations from the ground up while maintaining continuity of day-to-day activities and escalating more serious or complex matters to Group HR as required. This is a rare opportunity to shape how HR is delivered within a growing business and is ideally suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced, pragmatic, and build-focused setting.

What You’ll Do

HR Operations & Process Development

  • Establish, document, and continuously improve core HR operational processes across the employee lifecycle.
  • Create and implement HR templates (contracts, letters, policy documents) aligned with local requirements and Lumine standards.
  • Introduce practical, scalable ways of working that support business growth and compliance.

Payroll & Administration

  • Manage monthly payroll inputs in collaboration with external providers.
  • Ensure data accuracy, controls, and timely submission of payroll-related information.
  • Oversee HR systems and employee data integrity.

Employee Relations & Works Council Engagement

  • Support management of straightforward employee relations matters in line with German employment law.
  • Engage with works councils on operational topics, ensuring compliant and constructive consultation.
  • Provide pragmatic guidance to managers on day-to-day employee matters.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure HR operations comply with local German legislation and internal Lumine governance standards.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and audit readiness – including within the HRIS (Workday).
  • Act as a point of coordination with Group HR for escalations on all complex matters.

Stakeholder Support

  • Partner closely with local leadership to deliver effective HR support aligned to business priorities.
  • Operate as the primary HR contact within the business for operational matters.
  • Support broader HR initiatives where required.

Team Leadership (Desirable)

  • Provide guidance and support to any junior HR or administrative support where applicable.
  • Contribute to building capability and consistency in HR delivery.

What You’ll Bring

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience setting up and managing HR operations within Germany, ideally in a small or scaling business (under 150 employees).
  • Strong practical knowledge of German employment law and HR processes.
  • Demonstrated experience managing payroll inputs and coordination.
  • Experience working with works councils, including participation in straightforward consultations.
  • Ability to operate independently in a fully remote environment.

Skills & Approach

  • Highly pragmatic, solutions-focused, and comfortable working without predefined processes within a defined remit.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator who can engage effectively with managers and stakeholders.
  • Comfortable balancing operational delivery with process improvement.

Desirable

  • Experience managing or supervising small teams.
  • Exposure to international or multi-entity organisations.
  • Experience working within decentralised or playbook-driven HR environments.

Working Style

  • This is a hands-on role focused on building, stabilising, and running HR operations in a small but evolving organisation.
  • Fully remote role, with occasional travel to Germany as required.
  • High degree of autonomy and accountability whilst working within a clear governance framework.
  • Requires a proactive, self-starting approach and strong ownership mindset.
