Job description

This is a remote position.

We are looking for a highly experienced AWS DevOps Architect to design and implement scalable, secure, and resilient cloud solutions in a complex enterprise environment.

The ideal candidate combines strong AWS architecture expertise with deep, hands-on knowledge of Kubernetes, particularly Amazon EKS. This is not a purely strategic architecture positionβ€”the successful candidate must be comfortable designing solutions, making and defending technical decisions, and contributing directly to implementation and automation.

Location and Engagement

  • Location: Prague, Czech Republic
  • Working model: Hybrid
  • Contract: Long-term B2B/freelance cooperation
  • Start date: As soon as possible

Key Responsibilities

  • Design end-to-end AWS cloud architectures aligned with business, technical, security, and enterprise requirements.
  • Lead the DevOps strategy across infrastructure provisioning, application deployment, operations, and release management.
  • Design and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
  • Architect, deploy, and support containerized workloads running on Amazon EKS.
  • Define Kubernetes request flows, service interactions, workload placement, networking, and scaling strategies.
  • Select and implement appropriate Kubernetes autoscaling mechanisms based on workload characteristics, including CPU-bound, memory-bound, and event-driven workloads.
  • Build and improve CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, application deployments, configuration management, and operational processes.
  • Design highly available, fault-tolerant, and disaster-resilient AWS environments.
  • Implement secure connectivity between applications, databases, and managed AWS services.
  • Introduce passwordless and IAM-based authentication patterns where appropriate.
  • Establish monitoring, logging, alerting, observability, and incident-response practices.
  • Apply AWS security best practices across identity management, networking, encryption, logging, and access control.
  • Evaluate alternative architecture approaches and clearly justify the selected technical solutions.
  • Optimize cloud environments for performance, reliability, security, operational efficiency, and cost.
  • Troubleshoot complex infrastructure, Kubernetes, networking, deployment, and production issues.
  • Collaborate with development, security, architecture, and operations teams.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and best-practice guidance to engineering teams.
