Who We Are: At Hunt St, we help Australian companies hire top remote talent in the Philippines. For this role, you will be engaged directly by the client as an independent contractor. We are not an outsourcing agency. All of our roles are 100% remote so you'll be able to work from home.

Who The Client Is: Our client is a well-established Australian accounting firm with more than four decades of experience supporting individuals and small to medium-sized businesses. The practice provides tax, accounting, bookkeeping, and financial guidance, combining extensive industry experience with a practical, client-focused approach.

Role Overview: We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant/Manager to take a hands-on role managing a portfolio of Australian SME and individual clients. You’ll prepare and finalise tax and accounting work, manage client relationships, respond to queries, and provide practical tax and compliance advice.

You’ll also mentor intermediate accountants and bookkeepers, monitor workflow and deadlines, and help ensure high-quality work is delivered on time. The ideal candidate is technically strong, organised, client-focused, and confident working autonomously in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and finalise Australian tax returns and financial statements for individuals, trusts, and companies.
  • Review accounting and tax work prepared by intermediate accountants and bookkeepers, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage a portfolio of SME and individual clients, acting as a primary point of contact.
  • Communicate directly with clients via email, phone, and other channels, responding promptly and professionally to queries.
  • Provide practical tax planning, compliance, and accounting advice based on current Australian tax legislation.
  • Monitor client work, workflow, and deadlines to ensure ATO, ASIC, and client obligations are met.
  • Mentor and support intermediate accountants and bookkeepers, providing technical guidance and feedback.
  • Monitor team productivity and help identify and resolve workflow bottlenecks.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, quality, and client service across all work.
  • Stay up to date with relevant Australian tax and compliance requirements.

  • Able to work autonomously in a remote environment
  • CA/CPA qualified (or equivalent) preferred
  • Demonstrated high academic grades in numeracy and literacy
