Job description

By joining Bio-Techne, you’ll join a company with a powerful and positive purpose of enabling cutting-edge research in Life Sciences and Clinical Diagnostics. Bio-Techne, and all of its brands, provides tools for researchers to further treat and prevent disease worldwide.

We are seeking a strategic and commercially driven leader to accelerate the expansion of our spatial biology business across APAC/China.

This role owns the commercial success of the Spatial Biology business across APAC/GC, with responsibility for driving revenue growth, building a high-performing sales organization, and establishing strong market presence in the region.

The Commercial Director will lead regional strategy and execution, oversee complex capital equipment sales cycles as well as consumable sales, and act as a key member of the APAC leadership team.

The Commercial Director will be based in China or Singapore and will report into the Vice President, APAC.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and deliver regional revenue targets and growth objectives.

  • Strategize and execute plans to drive business development, aligning with the company's short-to-mid term growth objectives.

  • Drive strategic sales from early engagement through closing for both capital equipment and consumables.

  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline, ensuring accurate forecasting and consistent execution

  • Act as a key member of the APAC leadership team, contributing to overall regional strategy, and aligning with the spatial biology business’ leadership, as part of a matrix organization.

  • Collaborate closely with the global business unit including global sales, marketing, product management and customer support.

  • Personally lead and support strategic, high-value customer engagements and negotiations

  • Build long-term relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), institutional stakeholders, and senior decision-makers

  • Drive adoption across academia, biopharma, biotech, and CRO segments

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive channel strategy aligned with the APAC and global business requirements.

  • Identify areas of improvement and implement special projects as needed to drive the business and achieve sales goals

  • Monitor customer, market, and competitor activities, providing insightful feedback to the leadership team and other relevant departments.

  • Lead regional sales training and enablement initiatives

  • Engage in frequent travel as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities (up to 80% travel)

Education and Experience:

  • Advanced degree (Master or Ph.D.) in Life Sciences, Biology, Bioengineering, Medicine, or related field

  • 10+ years of commercial experience in life sciences, including capital equipment and consumable sales

  • Proven track record of consistently exceeding revenue targets and scaling businesses

  • Strong experience in APAC/China market dynamics, including regulatory, cultural, and channel landscape

  • Deep understanding of academia, biopharma, and translational research environments

  • Scientific knowledge and understanding of the product portfolios

  • Experience in Spatial Biology is a strong asset.

  • Experience partnering with internal leaders at all levels 

  • Success leading and developing a team (direct or indirect)

  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships, and influence without direct authority.

  • Strong written and oral communication

  • Fluency in English is essential
