Job description

We are sharing a specialised part-time consulting opportunity for experienced corporate and M&A lawyers qualified to practise in France, with strong expertise in French corporate, commercial, and transactional law.

This role supports an AI legal evaluation project focused on benchmarking how accurately advanced AI systems answer real-world questions of French law. Selected lawyers will compare responses from multiple AI platforms, assess their legal accuracy and reasoning against structured criteria, and provide concise expert feedback.

Key Responsibilities

French Corporate & M&A Law Evaluation

  • Review AI-generated responses to questions involving French corporate and commercial law
  • Evaluate legal reasoning across M&A, transactional, governance, and related corporate matters
  • Identify substantive legal errors, omissions, unsupported conclusions, and misleading reasoning
  • Assess whether responses reflect the standard expected in professional French legal practice
  • Apply practical transactional experience when evaluating complex legal scenarios

AI Response Comparison

  • Run identical legal prompts across two AI platforms
  • Compare responses side by side for accuracy, completeness, reasoning quality, and practical usefulness
  • Determine which response better addresses the legal question
  • Identify material differences in interpretation, analysis, and conclusions
  • Flag cases where both responses contain significant deficiencies

Rubric-Based Legal Review

  • Score AI-generated responses against a standardised evaluation rubric
  • Apply evaluation standards consistently across different legal questions
  • Distinguish minor drafting weaknesses from substantive legal errors
  • Assess whether conclusions are appropriately supported by French law
  • Follow defined review procedures and project quality standards

Legal Reasoning & Written Feedback

  • Provide concise written rationale for each evaluation
  • Explain specific legal strengths, weaknesses, and inaccuracies
  • Identify missing issues or analytical steps that materially affect the answer
  • Communicate complex legal distinctions clearly and precisely
  • Produce feedback suitable for improving AI legal reasoning and evaluation systems

Corporate Transactions Expertise

  • Apply professional experience from corporate, M&A, and transactional legal practice
  • Evaluate matters involving transaction structures, corporate governance, commercial agreements, and deal execution
  • Assess legal analysis from the perspective of practising counsel
  • Identify practical considerations that may be missed by purely academic analysis
  • Maintain professional standards consistent with established French law-firm practice

Ideal Profile

  • Qualified to practise law in France
  • At least 2 years of law-firm experience, with 3+ years preferred
  • Substantive professional experience in corporate law, M&A, or transactional practice
  • Primary professional background within an established law firm
  • Candidates currently working in-house may be considered where they moved from law-firm practice within approximately the last two years
  • Strong command of French corporate and commercial law
  • Native or fluent proficiency in French
  • Excellent written communication and ability to explain legal reasoning precisely
  • Strong attention to legal accuracy, analytical consistency, and detail
  • Ability to work independently against structured rubrics and deadlines
  • Experience reviewing sophisticated legal research or written legal analysis is highly valued

Engagement Details

  • Part-time independent contractor engagement
  • Fully remote
  • Initial commitment of approximately 10 hours, with strong potential for additional work
  • Flexible scheduling based on project requirements
  • Compensation: $140–$150/hour
  • Project work is subject to confidentiality and NDA requirements
  • Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded based on project needs and performance
  • Work must be completed without using confidential or proprietary information belonging to any employer, client, law firm, institution, or other third party
