  • Documenting results and contributing to scientific reports and presentations

Be part of change

  • Collaboration on the design and numerical simulation of photonic neural networks (PNN) using Python, Photontorch, and/or SAX
  • Assistance in the creation and verification of PIC layouts and specifications for the photonic neural processor (PNP)
  • Setting up and evaluating experimental measurement setups for optical signal characterization (eye diagrams, BER, optical losses)
  • Collaborating on the preparation of foundry submissions and coordinating with packaging partners
  • Assisting in the development of digital and hardware demonstrators for presentations to industry partners and investors
  • Documenting results and contributing to scientific reports and presentations

 

What you contribute

  • Enrollment in a full-time degree program in electrical engineering, physics, photonics, information technology, or a related field—ideally at the master’s level
  • Basic knowledge in at least one of the following areas: integrated photonics, optical communications, machine learning/neural networks, or numerical simulation of optical systems
  • Programming experience in Python; knowledge of Photontorch, SAX, or VPIphotonics is a plus
  • Laboratory experience with optical measurement systems (e.g., oscilloscope, optical spectrum analyzer, BER tester); experience with communication systems is a plus
  • Excellent written and spoken English; knowledge of German is welcome
  • A structured, independent work style and a genuine interest in deep-tech research

The position is initially limited to 1 year. An extension is explicitly desired.

 

The monthly working time is 80 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
