Job description

Head of Membership

Full-Time | Remote (Australia)

Not another community role that revolves around comments and content calendars.

At Profitable Tradie, our community isn't a marketing channel. It's where trade business owners come when things get tough. They ask for help, get their thinking challenged, take honest feedback on the chin, and back each other when it matters.

We need someone to run it, not manage it.

Someone who can hold their own in a room full of blunt, opinionated tradies who've built businesses with their hands and don't have time for fluff. Someone who can coach, call out excuses, and get straight to the point, because that's the culture our members expect and it's the culture we need in this seat.

If you think the strongest communities are built on trust and straight talk rather than engagement hacks and gentle encouragement, keep reading.

Who We Are

Profitable Tradie is a fast-growing coaching and consulting company helping plumbing, electrical, and other trade business owners across New Zealand, Australia, and North America.

Our mission: turn great tradespeople into great business owners.

Our community is a big part of why our clients get results. It's where members learn, argue, challenge each other, and get real feedback from people who've actually done the work.

As we grow, we need someone to take full ownership of that experience.

This isn't a community management role. It's a leadership seat for someone who understands coaching, can run a room, and isn't precious about giving or getting direct feedback.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Own the health, engagement, and long-term success of our member community

  • Become a trusted, credible voice inside our member Facebook groups, someone tradies actually respect, not just tolerate

  • Set the tone and standards for the community, and hold members to them

  • Review member work (sales letters, job ads, pricing, scripts, marketing, operations docs) and give direct, practical feedback, not a pat on the back

  • Run multiple live Q&A coaching sessions each week and keep control of the room

  • Coach members through real business problems, in line with their existing coaching plans

  • Work with the coaching team to keep guidance consistent

  • Spot members checking out and chase them down before they disappear

  • Call out wins, and call out when someone's coasting

  • Handle the coaching inbox with fast, high-quality answers, not generic responses

  • Build systems that keep improving engagement and community health as we scale

You won't be measured on how many comments you reply to. You'll be measured on the strength of the community, the quality of the conversations, member retention, and how many business owners are genuinely better off because you were in this seat.

Who You Are

  • You've got coaching experience and know how to challenge people without dancing around it

  • You've got real business knowledge across sales, marketing, pricing, recruitment, operations, or running a trade business yourself

  • You can review a business document and give feedback that actually changes it, not vague encouragement

  • You can run a live group session and keep it on track, even when it gets heated

  • You know the difference between coaching someone through it and telling them straight

  • You write well and communicate with zero fluff

  • You've got thick skin. Our members are direct, and they'll expect the same back

  • You hold high standards and don't back down from them just to keep the peace

  • You take ownership and move fast

Experience in business coaching, trades, service businesses, or membership communities is a strong plus.

This isn't for someone who wants to gently moderate a Facebook group. It's for someone who wants to build something tradies would actually miss if it disappeared.

Why Join Us

  • Build one of the strongest business communities in the trades industry

  • Direct influence over member success, retention, and outcomes

  • Work alongside an experienced coaching and leadership team

  • Freedom to change systems and shape the community's direction, no waiting for permission

  • A high-performance culture where ownership and results are the baseline, not a bonus

  • Work with ambitious business owners who actually want to grow

  • Be part of a team changing outcomes for thousands of trade business owners across NZ, Australia, and North America
