Senior Profee Coder (Multi-Specialty – Strong Surgical Experience)

This is a remote position.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Profee Coder (Multi-Specialty – Strong Surgical Experience) to join our team on a contract-to-permanent basis. This is a remote position, open only to residents of Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico, or Georgia.

In this role, you will focus on high-dollar or specialty accounts, applying expert-level coding knowledge to ensure accurate and compliant coding of inpatient and/or outpatient services. You will collaborate with clinical documentation specialists and other departments to support accurate billing and reduce denials. This position requires a strong understanding of surgical coding and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and/or CPT codes based on clinical documentation.
  
• Abstract and validate data in electronic medical record systems.
  
• Ensure coding accuracy rate of 95% or higher.
  
• Collaborate with HIM and Clinical Documentation teams to clarify documentation.
  
• Manage coding queues and resolve accounts on hold.
  
• Participate in audits and implement solutions to reduce errors.
  
• Maintain compliance with AHIMA’s Standards of Ethical Coding.
  

Requirements

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
  
• Completion of an accredited Health Informatics, Health Information Management, or AHIMA-approved Coding Certificate Program preferred.
  
• 2+ years of professional coding experience preferred.
  
• Strong surgical coding experience across multiple specialties is essential.
  

Certifications:

• AHIMA or AAPC credentials required.
  

Additional Requirements:

• Must reside in TX, LA, AR, NM, or GA.
  
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting.
  
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
