JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Reporting Analyst supports business performance and operational effectiveness by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting compliance, financial, and operational data. This role develops actionable reporting and insights that help leadership make informed decisions, improve performance, and drive business results.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Collect, validate, and analyze data from multiple internal and external sources to support departmental and client reporting requirements.
  • Identify, monitor, and communicate changes in financial, operational, and business performance trends through data analysis.
  • Conduct ongoing data quality reviews to identify inconsistencies, errors, and anomalies, partnering with stakeholders to resolve issues promptly.
  • Develop, automate, and maintain recurring and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and visualizations that provide meaningful business insights.
  • Prioritize and sequence reporting deliverables against defined deadlines, accounting for dependencies across related reports.
  • Prepare concise written analyses summarizing key findings, trends, variances, and recommendations from reporting periods.
  • Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement, operational efficiency, and enhanced business performance.
  • Coordinate directly with external data providers to ensure timely, accurate file delivery — proactively following up on and escalating missed, incomplete, or inconsistent vendor data.
  • Evaluates, recommends, and develops data process improvements and enhancements, including developing detailed workflow diagrams, charts, and project plans from concept through implementation.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas, PivotTables, Power Query — including editing existing query logic and filters, not limited to running refreshes — data visualization, and financial analysis.
  • Experience using SQL, Microsoft Fabric/Lakehouse-sourced data, Power BI, and DAX for reporting, dashboard development, and data modeling is preferred.
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot existing VBA/macro-driven Excel workflows well enough to recognize failures or update a hardcoded reference — macro authoring not required.
  • Strong file and folder management discipline within SharePoint-based reporting systems, including adherence to naming/versioning conventions that automated queries depend on.
  • Comfort working across multiple linked Excel workbooks concurrently, including cross-referencing data between them.
  • Tolerance for ambiguity and undocumented process — able to recognize when documented procedure no longer matches current practice and escalate rather than assume.
  • Experience with Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, or another AI tool preferred.
  • Base-level knowledge of Python a plus.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Data Analytics, Statistics, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
  • 2–5 years of experience in reporting, business analytics, financial analysis, or data analytics.
  • Experience working with large datasets and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Experience creating dashboards and executive-level reporting preferred.
