Athreon is seeking an experienced Senior Legal & Court Transcription Specialist to support our existing legal and law-enforcement transcription services while helping expand our capabilities in court and judicial transcription.
This position is ideal for an experienced legal transcription professional who has produced transcripts from recorded court proceedings and understands the specialized formatting, quality, certification, and procedural requirements associated with official court transcripts.
Key Responsibilities
● Transcribe and review law-enforcement, legal, investigative, and other recorded proceedings.
● Provide subject-matter expertise for court and judicial transcription projects.
● Review transcripts for accuracy, completeness, formatting, speaker identification, legal terminology, and compliance with client requirements.
● Interpret and implement court-specific transcript manuals, templates, and formatting standards.
● Assist with development of court-transcription workflows, SOPs, templates, and quality-control procedures.
● Help evaluate and mentor transcriptionists assigned to legal or court work.
● Support Athreon's operations team with estimating staffing and production requirements for prospective court projects.
● Provide technical input when Athreon evaluates court and judicial transcription solicitations.
● Assume a coordination or lead role for court-transcription projects as Athreon's judicial business grows.
We're particularly interested in someone who can contribute immediately to Athreon's existing transcription operations while helping us develop a stronger internal competency in court transcription. The right candidate will combine hands-on production expertise with the ability to serve as a resource to operations, quality assurance, and management as our legal and judicial services expand.
Preferred Qualifications
● Significant professional legal transcription experience.
● Direct experience transcribing recorded court proceedings strongly preferred.
● Experience preparing transcripts in accordance with court-specific rules and formatting manuals.
● Familiarity with verbatim transcription, multiple-speaker proceedings, exhibits, witness testimony, examinations, hearings, and legal terminology.
● Experience with transcript certification and quality assurance.
● Ability to research unfamiliar names, terminology, citations, and other transcript content.
● Demonstrated ability to work independently while meeting strict accuracy and turnaround requirements.
● Experience reviewing or mentoring other transcriptionists is highly desirable.
● U.S.-based and able to satisfy client-specific background, confidentiality, and security requirements.
