Role Overview

The Buyer (Software) is responsible for operational and tactical procurement activities within the software and IT purchasing environment. The role focuses on sourcing software products and services, supporting contract and supplier management, managing software maintenance renewals, and conducting procurement procedures in accordance with applicable commercial and public procurement requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct requests for quotations and basic market analyses for software and IT-related products and services.
  • Structure and maintain transparency within the software material category, including the allocation of materials and services to existing contracts.
  • Independently prepare and conduct straightforward commercial negotiations, particularly regarding pricing and contractual conditions.
  • Draft and manage standard contracts and review general terms and conditions.
  • Maintain supplier correspondence and ensure contracts and related documentation are properly stored in the contract management system.
  • Independently manage software maintenance and support renewals in cooperation with internal business departments and license management.
  • Create and maintain relevant material numbers and procurement master data.
  • Support and independently manage straightforward procurement procedures, including follow-on contracts, supply transactions, and standard software licensing agreements.
  • Prepare and conduct supplier evaluations and present the results to suppliers and relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate closely with internal business units, license management, suppliers, and procurement stakeholders.
  • Ensure procurement activities are documented in a structured, transparent, and audit-ready manner.

Qualifications

  • Degree in business administration or a comparable commercial qualification, or
  • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field, or
  • Recognized vocational training in an IT profession, or
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in an IT environment.

Required Experience

  • At least 2 years of continuous professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Software procurement
    • IT procurement
    • Software license management
    • Software maintenance and support management
  • At least 1 year of continuous professional experience with:
    • EU-wide procurement procedures
    • Public procurement law / tendering regulations
  • Experience in preparing quotations, supplier comparisons, negotiations, contracts, and supplier evaluations.
  • Practical understanding of software licensing, maintenance agreements, renewals, and commercial contract conditions.

Language Requirements

  • German: C1
  • English: B1

Language proficiency should be demonstrated in accordance with the CEFR framework unless the respective language is the candidate's native language.

  • Approximately 60% mobile / remote working is expected on average.
