About the role:


As an Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the Finance function across multiple legal entities within EMEA and the wider Spectris Group. You will be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, supporting month-end close activities, maintaining strong financial controls, and ensuring transactional finance processes operate efficiently.  


Working closely with Finance teams, Shared Service Centres, and business stakeholders, you will help provide high-quality financial information, support statutory and compliance requirements, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. This role offers broad exposure across management accounting, reporting, audit, compliance, and finance transformation activities within a multinational environment.

What you'll be doing:


• Manage month-end reporting and financial close activities for one or more legal entities, including journal postings, balance sheet reconciliations and intercompany accounting
• Process and oversee key transactional finance activities, including Accounts Payable, employee expenses, corporate cards and supplier master data management
• Support the preparation of management accounts, financial reporting, variance analysis and Profit & Loss reviews to ensure accurate and insightful financial information
• Assist with statutory accounts, tax reporting requirements and compliance activities across domestic and international entities
• Prepare and submit required internal and external reporting, including ONS submissions, while supporting audit activities and maintaining strong financial controls
• Partner with Finance teams, Shared Service Centres and stakeholders across EMEA to ensure finance processes are completed accurately and on time
• Provide responsive support to budget holders and senior stakeholders, proactively managing queries, approvals and information requests
• Drive continuous improvement by simplifying finance processes, enhancing documentation, supporting system and business change initiatives, and contributing to finance projects and M&A activities


About you:


• Relevant background in finance or accounting, with a solid understanding of month-end processes, financial close activities, balance sheet reconciliations, journals and intercompany accounting
• Knowledge of transactional finance activities, including Accounts Payable, supplier management and expense processing
• Familiarity with SAP (ideally SAP S/4HANA) and strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Part-qualified accountant or actively studying towards a professional accounting qualification would be advantageous
• Highly organised, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining financial accuracy
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a practical and solutions-focused approach to challenges
• Confident communicator who can build effective relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders at all levels
• Self-motivated and proactive, with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multinational environment
