The Critical Power Projects team has an exciting opportunity for an Application Engineer. This fully remote position requires up to 10% travel and is open to candidates residing in Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $86,000 - $126,000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.

What you’ll do:

  • Interpret project specifications and drawings to develop technical solutions, assist Sales with UPS system proposals/bid packages, and ensure accurate Bills of Material and project content for equipment-only and turnkey Critical Power projects.
  • Prepare and lead the development of project proposals, cost estimates, pricing schedules, schedule of values, and milestone billing plans for projects up to $2M, collaborating with Sales, Project Management, Engineering, Operations, Risk Management, and other stakeholders to obtain approvals.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between customers, UPS manufacturers, Sales, and Project Operations throughout the proposal and project handoff process, including site visits as needed to gather technical requirements and validate project scope (up to 10% travel).
  • Review customer orders and project documentation for accuracy, coordinate proposal-to-execution handoff activities, maintain project records, and prepare customer submittals and order summary documentation to support successful project execution.



Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of one (1) years experience in electrical contractor estimating / proposal writing, application engineering, on UPS and power distribution equipment field experience working, repairing and installing UPS Systems.
  • Or Associate’s degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in electrical contractor estimating / proposal writing, application engineering, on UPS and power distribution equipment field experience working, repairing and installing UPS Systems.
  • Or in lieu of degree, a minimum of five (5) years' experience in electrical contractor estimating / proposal writing, application engineering, on UPS and power distribution equipment or field experience working, repairing and installing UPS Systems.
  • No relocation is being offered for this position. Candidate must reside within Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey,  New York, Connecticut, or Massachusetts,
  • This role is designated as a Regular Driver per Eaton’s Driver Safety Policy and requires a current, unrestricted driver’s license along with a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record. Candidates will be subject to a motor vehicle record check upon hire.
  • Submit to periodic customer required background and drug screenings.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future. Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position. This means that Eaton will not support any CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT plans, F-1 to H-1B, H-1B cap registration, O-1, E-3, TN status, I-485 job portability, etc.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology OR Business Degree with Engineering/Technical Experience OR an equivalency of 3 years hands-on field service experience and/or proposal generation experience specifically related to maintaining and modernizing electrical power distribution and UPS systems.
  • Experience with proposal development in both private sector and government bids; experience with proposal development for all of Eaton's end markets (Industrial, Commercial, Healthcare, Utility, Institutional and Government).
  • Experience with government proposal procedures, including developing proposals for the PCCIE contract, technical and price proposal separation, reps and certifications, and government evaluation factors
  • Experience with BidManager, VISTA, SAP, CPQ, full Microsoft Suite.
  • Experience in writing and reviewing subcontractor work scopes and Subcontractor agreements; preferred experience with GSA purchasing procedures; being able to evaluate proposals for specification compliance; experience with risk evaluation and risk management.
