Overview & Responsibilities

Purpose of Job

Directly support and implement the strategies for Global EHS and Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMA) Field Service operations. Serve as the technical expert for EHS field operations in the EMA region. Identify and mitigate risk related to field operations by implementing controls to reduce liabilities and associated financial costs related to EHS. 

This position is responsible to direct and manage foundational EHS systems utilized by the EHS organization globally with an emphasis on field operations for EMA. This position will manage EHS compliance and process conformance, facilitate management of EHS issues and risks, and drive continual improvement from a holistic EHS perspective for the EMA region.

Specific Job Responsibilities

  •  Directs and manages EHS programs and systems that are utilized by the organization globally with an emphasis in single facility, region, or business unit.  Deploys Corporate Elliott EHS policy throughout the area of responsibility.

  • Supports creation of and implementation of the EHS strategic plan within area of responsibility and supports business unit leadership with EHS matters.

  • Develops and leads implementation of EHS systems including the identification of internal processes and procedures compliant to ISO requirements.

  • Manages the strategic interface with external regulatory agencies and external EHS legal counsel. 

  • Manages third party certification, customer audits, and customer qualifications

  • Providing leadership and technical guidance for contracted EHS Professionals in Field Service to develop EHS talent and competency.

  • Working with EHS colleagues to identify better practices, establish directives, standardize key processes, and deploy within the area of responsibility.

  • Manage the incident investigation process to ensure root cause(s) are identified and mitigated, identify incident and near miss trends, identify best practices, and implement opportunities for incident prevention.

  • Evaluate incident, observation, and other EHS data to identify trends, create, and implement Elliott specific EHS programs and processes to drive improvements.

  • Reviews the results of environmental health and safety audits and emergency response exercises within the area of responsibility.


Required Background and Experience

  •  Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental and/or Health and Safety Science or related field (or equivalent relevant experience) plus a minimum of 5-7 years of applicable experience in an industrial or petrochemical environment.

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and written skills is required, as this position must interact with all levels within Elliott, Elliott subcontractors', and Elliott customers' organizations.

  • Working knowledge of EHS regulatory framework (particularly for EMA region) and EHS management systems.   

  • Fluent in English

  • Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, databases, and internet based systems) required.

  • RSPP (In Italy) and NEBOSH IGC qualification

  • Experience with EHS management systems (ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001), desired.

  • ASP, CSP, or CHMM or equivalent certification desired.

  • Experience working in a benzene/hydrocarbon exposure environment, confined space, working at height & lifting activities arrangements is preferred

  • First Aid Certificate is highly preferred

This is a full time permanent position based in Italy on remote working basis.
