Job description

About the Role

We're a seed-stage, AI-native healthtech startup building an operating system that empowers nurse practitioners to launch and run independent clinical practices. We're hiring a Founding Product Engineer to own and shape the clinician-facing product experience end-to-end.

You'll work closely with founders, designers, and clinicians to transform complex clinical workflows into polished, reliable software that directly improves care delivery. This is a high-ownership, high-impact role at a small, fast-moving team — you'll have an outsized influence on both the product and the engineering culture from day one.

What You'll Do

  • Own major clinician-facing workflows from whiteboard through production — including implementation, testing, rollout, and iteration.

  • Collaborate with designers, founders, and clinicians to define product behavior; you won't be waiting for finished specs.

  • Drive frontend architecture and technical direction across provider and patient applications.

  • Influence APIs, data models, and overall system design while primarily owning the frontend.

  • Iterate quickly from rough concepts to polished production experiences alongside a product designer.

  • Debug complex production issues spanning browsers, APIs, third-party integrations, and infrastructure.

  • Contribute to engineering culture through thoughtful code reviews, technical discussions, and pragmatic decision-making.

  • Leverage AI development tools as a core part of your workflow while maintaining full ownership of system design and production quality.

What We're Looking For

Required:

  • Demonstrated experience leading significant technical initiatives or owning major product areas end-to-end.

  • Strong hands-on experience with React and Next.js (TypeScript familiarity assumed).

  • Proven track record of owning user-facing features from concept through production.

  • Comfortable collaborating across the frontend/backend boundary — working with APIs and debugging backend behavior.

  • Experience working directly with designers, customers, or domain experts to shape product direction.

  • Strong product intuition, engineering judgment, and debugging skills.

  • Comfortable in a fast-moving startup environment and experienced using AI development tools responsibly.

  • Able to commute to our Midtown Manhattan office 3 days per week (hybrid).

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in healthcare, with FHIR, or in other regulated-software environments.

  • Prior experience as an early or founding engineer at a startup.

  • Experience building products used throughout the workday, where usability and workflow matter as much as correctness.

  • Experience evolving and maintaining a design system.

Note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $180,000 – $220,000 per year

  • Early-stage equity

  • Opportunity to shape engineering culture and product direction as a founding team member

Location
