The Electrical Design Engineer will provide remote design and drafting support across commercial renewable energy and design-and-construct electrical projects. This role will focus on producing accurate AutoCAD drawings, single-line diagrams, cable layouts, switchboard modification drawings, equipment layouts, schematics, and project documentation for solar PV, battery energy storage systems, low-voltage distribution, and associated electrical infrastructure.
- Develop electrical designs and drafting documentation for commercial renewable energy projects, primarily solar PV, battery energy storage systems, and associated electrical infrastructure.
- Prepare accurate single-line diagrams, cable layouts, equipment layouts, schematics, and construction drawings using AutoCAD.
- Support the electrical team with design-and-construct commercial electrical projects.
- Produce professional design drawings, construction documentation, and project records with minimal supervision.
- Assist with switchboard modification drawings, low-voltage distribution layouts, protection arrangements, and related electrical infrastructure documentation.
- Support cable sizing, voltage drop, fault-loop impedance, and protection calculation activities where PowerCAD experience is available.
- Review project requirements, technical information, engineering markups, and design inputs to produce clear and accurate drawing outputs.
- Ensure drawings and documentation follow internal drawing standards, project requirements, and relevant Australian electrical standards.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to clarify design requirements, drawing updates, technical issues, and project deadlines.
- Maintain organised drawing files, design records, revisions, and supporting project documentation.
- Identify drafting or design issues, raise questions where required, and support practical solutions during the design process.
- Other position-level duties as they arise.
