As the Sr Manager, Cyber Security Advisory, you will lead a team of Cyber Security Advisors responsible for helping customers strengthen their security posture, maximize the value of Ontinue’s services, and achieve measurable security outcomes. This role combines people leadership, customer-facing advisory expertise, operational execution, and strong technical understanding of modern security operations and Microsoft security technologies. 

Reporting to the Vice President, Customer Success, you will be responsible for day-to-day leadership of the Cyber Security Advisory team within the Customer Success organization, ensuring consistent delivery quality, proactive customer engagement, and effective collaboration across Customer Success, Security Operations, Sales, Product, and Engineering. You will serve as a trusted leader for the team and a strategic escalation point for customers. 


Key Responsibilities 

Team Leadership & Coaching 

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Cyber Security Advisors, helping them deliver high-quality customer guidance and grow their technical and consultative skills. 
  • Provide regular feedback, performance management, mentoring, and career development support. 
  • Foster a culture of accountability, customer obsession, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement. 


Customer Advisory & Escalation Management 

  • Ensure customers receive proactive, strategic security guidance that aligns to their business priorities and risk profile. 
  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex customer issues, advisory concerns, and service delivery challenges. 
  • Support executive business reviews, customer health discussions, renewal planning, and strategic account engagements. 
  • Partner with Customer Success leaders to drive customer satisfaction, retention, adoption, and long-term value realization. 


Operational Excellence 

  • Manage team capacity, workload balance, customer coverage, and prioritization across the advisory portfolio. 
  • Drive consistent use of advisory methodologies, engagement standards, documentation practices, and reporting expectations. 
  • Monitor customer health indicators, service delivery trends, risks, and operational metrics to identify improvement opportunities. 
  • Support process improvements that increase team effectiveness, scalability, and customer impact. 


Technical & Advisory Leadership 

  • Provide guidance to advisors on complex customer security challenges, threat detection strategies, incident response considerations, and security operations maturity. 
  • Maintain strong knowledge of emerging cyber threats, attacker tactics, security best practices, and managed security service delivery. 
  • Promote effective adoption and optimization of Microsoft security technologies, including Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Security services, and KQL. 
  • Contribute to advisory playbooks, reusable customer guidance, best practices, and service improvement initiatives. 


Cross-Functional Collaboration 

  • Partner with Sales, Customer Success, Security Operations, Product, and Engineering to resolve customer needs and improve service delivery. 
  • Share customer feedback, recurring themes, risks, and product or service improvement opportunities with leadership. 
  • Support account planning, expansion discussions, and renewal readiness through advisory insight and customer context. 


Qualifications 

  • 8+ years of experience in cyber security, including advisory, consulting, security operations, incident response, or managed security services. 
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience leading technical, advisory, consulting, or customer-facing security professionals. 
  • Demonstrated ability to coach teams, manage performance, develop talent, and drive accountability. 
  • Strong customer-facing skills with experience managing escalations, executive conversations, and strategic customer engagements. 
  • Solid understanding of security operations, threat detection, incident response, threat hunting, risk management, and security frameworks. 
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Experience using operational metrics, customer health data, and service delivery insights to improve team performance and customer outcomes. 


Technical Expertise 

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft security technologies, including Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender Suite, Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Security services, and Kusto Query Language (KQL). 
  • Understanding of managed detection and response, threat detection engineering, incident response workflows, SIEM/SOAR concepts, and endpoint, identity, and cloud security. 
  • Ability to translate technical security concepts into clear business recommendations for customers and internal stakeholders. 


Nice to Have 

  • CISSP, CISM, GIAC, Microsoft Security, or similar certifications. 
  • Experience in security advisory, consulting, customer success, or managed security services environments. 
  • Experience supporting enterprise and mid-market customers across complex security environments. 
  • Knowledge of governance, risk, and compliance frameworks. 
  • Scripting or automation experience using PowerShell, Python, or similar technologies.
