As a leading provider of AI-powered extended managed detection and response (MXDR) services, Ontinue is on a mission to be the most trusted, 24/7, always-on security partner that empowers customers to embrace the future by using AI to operate more strategically, at scale, and with less risk. We believe that the combination of AI and human expertise is essential for delivering effective managed security that is tailored to a customer’s unique environment, operational constraints, and risks.
Our MXDR service combines powerful proprietary AI with a one-of-a-kind collaboration model to continuously build a deep understanding of our customers’ environments, informing how we prevent, detect, and respond to threats. Our unrivaled Microsoft expertise allows customers to achieve these outcomes with the Microsoft Security tools they already own. The result is highly localized managed protection that empowers security teams to be faster, smarter, and more cost-efficient than ever before.
Continuous protection. AI-powered Nonstop SecOps. That’s Ontinue.
Embark on an exciting journey as a Senior IT Cloud Engineer at Ontinue, where innovation meets cybersecurity excellence! We are actively seeking a seasoned cloud engineering professional to join our Global IT Team. Deep Microsoft Azure expertise is the core requirement for this role: you will design, build, and operate the secure, scalable Azure environments that underpin Ontinue’s internal platforms, applications, and services. This role centers on Azure infrastructure, automation, identity and access management, and cloud security — driving reliability, performance, and continuous improvement across our multinational IT organization. You will also build out the automations and AI-driven capabilities that keep our operations efficient and secure, working with Microsoft Copilot Studio and Azure AI Foundry, and help administer core IT platforms such as our Atlassian Cloud suite. You will act as a senior technical authority, mentoring engineers and championing engineering best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, deploy, and maintain secure, highly available Azure cloud infrastructure supporting Ontinue’s internal platforms and business applications.
- Build and manage infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates) to provision, standardize, and version-control cloud resources.
- Develop automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) to streamline provisioning, configuration, and day-to-day operational tasks.
- Build out and maintain workflow automations using Power Automate and Azure Automation runbooks to streamline repetitive IT and operational processes.
- Design, build, and operate AI-driven solutions on Microsoft platforms — including Microsoft Copilot Studio agents, Azure AI Foundry, and Microsoft Copilot / Cowork — to automate workflows and extend internal capabilities, and help the team adopt them effectively.
- Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for infrastructure and application deployments.
- Support Ontinue’s Jamf device-management environment alongside our managed service partner, helping maintain secure device configuration, compliance policies, and the Jamf device compliance integration with Microsoft Entra ID via Platform SSO. (Hands-on Jamf experience is a plus, not a requirement.)
- Own and administer Ontinue’s Atlassian Cloud instance — Jira, Jira Product Discovery, and Confluence — including customizing projects/spaces, workflows, custom fields, and permissions to support team processes.
- Administer identity and access management in Microsoft Entra ID, including conditional access, RBAC, and least-privilege principles.
- Implement and enforce cloud security best practices, hardening, and compliance-aligned configurations in partnership with the Security team.
- Monitor cloud environments for performance, availability, and cost; optimize resource usage and drive cost efficiency.
- Serve as a senior escalation point for complex cloud infrastructure and platform issues, troubleshooting across compute, networking, storage, identity, and endpoint management.
- Lead and support cloud platform migrations, integrations, and application implementation projects.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to documentation, standards, and a culture of continuous improvement across the Global IT Team.
- Build and maintain custom containers (e.g., Docker) for internal use cases such as custom AI agents and MCP servers, using modern IDEs and Git-based version-control workflows.
- Participate in other Security & IT Operations projects or tasks as needed.
Experience and Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in Cloud Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, or a similar role, with Microsoft Azure as the primary platform. Azure depth is the most important qualification for this role.
- Deep hands-on expertise architecting, deploying, and operating Azure cloud environments (compute, networking, storage, and PaaS services).
- Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates).
- Proficiency in scripting and automation — e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python.
- Proven experience building out and maintaining automations with Power Automate and Azure Automation runbooks.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions.
- Experience administering an Atlassian Cloud instance (Jira, Jira Product Discovery, and Confluence), including customizing workflows, custom fields, projects/spaces, and permissions.
- Solid understanding of identity and access management with Microsoft Entra ID (SSO, conditional access, RBAC).
- Working knowledge of cloud security principles, hardening, and compliance-aligned configuration.
- Experience with cloud monitoring, logging, and cost optimization (e.g., Azure Monitor, Log Analytics).
- Experience leading platform migration and application implementation projects.
- Hands-on experience building AI-driven solutions on Microsoft platforms — Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, and Microsoft Copilot / Cowork — is highly desirable and a strong differentiator, along with AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot and Claude.ai.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, along with a proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional and multi-national teams.
- Proficient with modern development tooling, including IDEs such as Visual Studio Code, and a strong grasp of Git concepts and version-control workflows (branching, pull requests, and code review).
- Experience building custom containers (e.g., Docker) for internal use cases such as custom AI agents, MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers, and internal tooling.
- Relevant Microsoft certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400, and SC-300 are highly desirable. Microsoft AI certifications (e.g., AI-102) and Jamf certifications (Jamf 200 Certified Tech or Jamf 300 Certified Admin) are a plus, as is a HashiCorp Terraform Associate certification.
