Junior Financial Analyst (Sepulveda - Finance) 

This is a full-time and remote position. You have the option to elect into a 9/80 flex work schedule.

The pay range for this role is between $31.03 - $35.69 per hour.

Summary

As a Junior Financial Analyst, you will leverage your strong analytical mindset to go beyond standard reporting and deliver deep, actionable financial insights. As we continue to automate our routine reporting, your focus will be on driving ad-hoc analyses, uncovering trends, and translating complex data into compelling stories for leadership. As an individual contributor focused on internal data execution, you will collaborate with your team to handle ad-hoc analysis and reporting. This role relies on your strong analytical skills to dive deep into data and present clear findings within smaller, internal team settings.

Primary Duties

  • Assists in the preparation and analytical review of the agency budget, identifying historical trends to help inform future projections.
  • Supports preparation of contract renewal packages including amendments and budget modifications.
  • Performs data modeling and trend analysis for operating and strategic plans, including monthly and quarterly forecasts. 
  • Analyzes and optimizes financial models, worksheets, and/or databases for tracking and reporting.
  • Provides financial support and preliminary data analysis on specialized agency projects
  • Produces monthly budget monitoring reports for corporate finance, actively investigating and explaining underlying drivers behind budget-to-actual variances.
  • Prepares and publishes monthly operating management reports, highlighting key financial trends for review meetings.
  • Assists in the preparation of financial statements, periodic and year-end contract-based cost reports
  • Conducts financial reporting, preparation of supporting schedules and ad-hoc data analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Conducts monthly expense monitoring, proactively identifying anomalies, cost-saving opportunities, or budget overages
  • Performs other related analytical and operational duties as requested.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience required.
  • Demonstrated foundational understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Familiarity, willingness to learn, and/or the ability to create draw insights from reports and/or dashboards using reporting tools equivalent to Power BI is highly desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of budget development/management, cost projections and reporting requirements.
  • Strong personal computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically, Excel and Word, with the ability to assist in preparing high-quality presentations for executive and leadership audiences.
  • Communication skills and ability to build relationships and consensus both internally and externally.
  • The ability to present ideas, information, and viewpoints clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail to help present and explain financial analyses.
  • A commitment to team objectives and Didi Hirsch philosophies.
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge.
