Job description

Financial Technical Accountant 

Pro IS, Inc. is currently recruiting for a Financial Technical Accountant. The successful candidate will support our clients with a variety of functions, some of which are listed below. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to work on different projects which could include technical accounting and finance operations. This employment position is full-time and will work daytime hours remotely in the USA.

Insurance/reinsurance experience is required. You must understand contract language. Do not apply if you do not meet the P&C insurance/reinsurance requirements; you will not be considered nor responded to. Also note: Candidates must reside in the 48 contiguous United States and will not require visa sponsorship, now or in the future to be considered for this position. 

Main Responsibilities could include any combination of the following:

  • Accurately allocate cash receipts against open balances.
  • Perform credit control functions of reinsurance receivables/payables and related account reconciliations.
  • Financial settlement with clients according to policy terms and agreements and timely management of overall cash flow.
  • Work collaboratively with other functional areas (Underwriting, Claims, Finance) and clients to clarify and resolve queries, incorrect data, and missing information.
  • Work collaboratively with offshore teams.
  • Support ad-hoc projects as assigned.

Mandatory Skills and Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in Property & Casualty (not Life & Health) reinsurance/insurance operations or finance required.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • At least 1 year of accounting software experience preferred, preferably Great Plains and/or D365.
  • Prior cash allocations/credit control experience preferred.
  • College degree in accounting, finance, or related field or equivalent insurance work experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills required.
  • Ability to multitask and work on different systems and accounts on a daily basis to manage multiple deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Strong analytical skills – detail oriented.
  • Billing experience preferred but not required.
  • Solid organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment and adapt to frequent changes.
  • Strong communication skills.
