Job description

This is a remote position.

Are you a creative storyteller with a passion for interior design, visual branding, and short-form video? We are seeking an ambitious, trend-savvy Remote Social Media and Content Specialist who will champion the digital presence of US-based home decor brands, shaping their narrative, driving engagement, and producing high-impact, native short-form video content that inspires modern spaces.

This role is responsible for bringing the social strategy to life through consistent content production, posting, community engagement, and influencer coordination.

A key focus of this role is video-first content creation, helping to build a steady pipeline of engaging, platform-native content across Instagram, TikTok, and emerging channels. This person will work closely with Creative, Ecommerce, and Marketing teams to ensure content aligns with promotional priorities and brand voice.

This is a full-time, contractual, freelancer position for a trial period of 3 months while working at home. JOB DESCRIPTION

Social Media Execution

  • Daily Platform Management: Execute day-to-day posting across key social channels (including Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, etc.) ensuring visual consistency and brand alignment.

  • Content Calendar Oversight: Assist in managing and optimizing the social content calendar, ensuring seamless alignment with upcoming product promotions, brand campaigns, and overarching marketing initiatives.

  • Post Optimization: Draft highly engaging, on-brand captions, research and select strategically targeted hashtags, and optimize posts to maximize organic reach and target audience engagement.

  • Trend & Competitor Analysis: Keep a pulse on social media trends, algorithm updates, and competitor landscape to keep our brands ahead of the creative curve.

  • Audience Growth Support: Support continuous audience growth and brand affinity through highly consistent, aesthetic, and high-quality storytelling.

Content Production (Video-Focused)

  • Short-Form Content Creation: Brainstorm, script, and edit high-quality short-form video content (Instagram Reels, TikToks) aligned with brand goals.

  • Creative Asset Development: Capture and produce platform-native assets featuring lifestyle, product-focused showcases, UGC-style clips, and trend-based visual layouts.

  • Design Team Collaboration: Partner closely with internal Creative and Design teams to translate high-level campaign ideas into platform-native social content.

  • Pipeline Management: Help establish and maintain a continuous, always-on content pipeline to support both immediate promotional and long-term brand narrative needs.

  • Testing & Iteration: Consistently test varied visual styles, hooks, music trends, and narrative structures to scale performance metrics.

Influencer & Creator Support

  • Outreach & Discovery: Assist in identifying, vetting, and executing outreach to prospective micro-influencers and key content creators.

  • Campaign Logistics: Coordinate influencer gifting, organize product shipments, track active partnerships, and manage campaign deliverable timelines.

  • Guideline Compliance: Audit influencer-generated assets to ensure adherence to brand aesthetics and compliance with specific campaign briefs.

  • Performance Tracking: Support the team with gathering and compiling data to measure creator campaign ROI and impact.

Community Engagement

  • Inbound Community Care: Actively monitor and respond to comments, direct messages, and tagged posts across platforms to maintain an active, welcoming community.

  • Brand Advocacy: Engage with followers, designers, and industry creators to build deep brand affinity.

  • UGC Curation: Identify and catalog outstanding User Generated Content (UGC) opportunities for official reposts, marketing collateral, and campaigns.

  • Industry Relations: Foster and cultivate digital relationships within the wider home decor, architecture, and interior design community.

Reporting & Insights

  • Data Compilation: Assist in compiling comprehensive weekly and monthly social performance reports.

  • Key Metric Tracking: Measure and log performance across key indicators, including engagement rate, follower velocity, click-throughs, and video views.

  • Insight Sharing: Distill data into actionable recommendations to assist cross-functional teams in planning upcoming product launches and asset creation.

Cross-Brand & Team Support

  • Multi-Brand Synergy: Coordinate cross-brand promotional campaigns that link Rugs Direct and Lightopia to showcase complete home designs.

  • Marketing Alignment: Support trade program growth by aligning digital promotional strategies, site experiences, and lifecycle marketing campaigns to acquire and retain design professionals.



Requirements

  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Merchandising, Communications, or a related field.
    • At least 3+ years of proven professional experience managing social media, producing digital content, or executing influencer marketing campaigns (e-commerce/retail background is highly preferred).
    • A proven portfolio showing exceptional skill and passion for native short-form video creation (TikTok, Instagram Reels).
  • TECHNICAL AND OTHER SKILLS:
    • Basic to intermediate video editing and design skills using tools such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar creation platforms.
    • All tools and licenses or credentials required for the job will be provided by the client.
    • Deep understanding of social platform features, current algorithm trends, and native-first creative practices.
    • Strong project management and detail-oriented coordination skills to handle calendars for multiple brands.
    • Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, remote startup ecosystem.
    • An entrepreneurial "ownership" attitude with a hunger to learn, run tests, and iterate quickly.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Aesthetic Focus: Strong affinity for or professional background in interior design, luxury decor, lighting design, or home furnishings.
    • Global and D2C Experience: Prior experience working with remote, US-based clients or managing global consumer audiences. Direct-to-consumer experience preferred.
    • AI Tool Integration: Exposure to using modern AI generative tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Midjourney, copywriting assistants) to write captions, brainstorm hooks, and streamline research.
  • REQUIREMENTS FOR REMOTE WORK
    • Eligible to work as a remote freelancer legally or as a contractor based in the Philippines.
    • Natural-born Filipino citizen or Foreigner with a working VISA or permit to work in the Philippines legally.
    • Has own computer or laptop capable of handling the rigorous demands of work.
    • Has a fast and reliable internet connection at home (at least 200-300 MBPS)
    • Has a quiet and distraction free work environment at home.
    • Willing to work in graveyard shifts or changing shift US schedules.

HOURS OF WORK

  • Work from home. Full-time freelancer, contractual position

  • 9:00AM to 6:00PM US Eastern Time, Mondays to Fridays

  • 8 hours guaranteed shift per work day

  • With 1 hour daily “lunch break” (unpaid)

  • US Holidays are normal working hours / days

  • Select PH Holidays are off and unpaid

  • Any overtime needs to be pre-approved by the client



Benefits

  • COMPENSATION: $8 to $11 per hour GROSS rate depending on experience
  • TAXATION:  As per Philippine Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) regulations, professional fees for self-employed individuals are subject to a  5% or 10% Expanded Withholding Tax (EWT) .  The final tax will be calculated based on the freelancer's submission of a valid Certificate of Registration (COR) as self-employed.
  • CONTRACT:  This is a 3-month long freelancing trial contract (full-time) that can be done remotely at home with a computer and a fast and reliable internet connection. There are no benefits for Freelancers during the evaluation period.
  • POSSIBLE RENEWAL:  However, if the Client decides to renew the contract there may be certain benefits such as paid sick leaves, paid vacation leaves, HMO health insurance and 13th month pay. These are not guaranteed and everything will depend on performance and client discretion.
  • REPORTING TO:  Although you will be reporting directly to the designated manager from our client, you will also be reporting to and will be supervised by Big Ideas Social Media Inc, who is the consultant and service provider (Agency) of the US business. Big Ideas will be the ones to provide your compensation and other HR and administrative needs locally.
  • LEGAL STATUS:  You will be classified as “Self-Employed” when it concerns legality and taxation. You will not be considered an employee of our Client or Big Ideas Philippines but instead, you will be a self-employed freelance professional.
