Overview

Client is seeking a Senior Security Automation Engineer to design, build, and scale enterprise-grade security automation. This role will develop production-ready workflows that reduce manual effort, suppress operational noise, and accelerate cyber defense across identity, endpoint, cloud, network, and data security environments.

Core Responsibilities

  • Design and implement security automation workflows that reduce manual intervention across security domains.
  • Build API- and service-based integrations that execute guardrail-enforced security actions.
  • Automate detection, alert enrichment, suppression, containment, and response workflows.
  • Integrate automation with enterprise workflow systems when orchestration or approvals are required.
  • Implement kill switches, dry-run modes, test modes, time-limited actions, and staged deployments.
  • Maintain observability and auditability through detailed logging and correlation identifiers.
  • Create reusable automation patterns, connectors, and frameworks that scale across teams.
  • Collaborate with security engineers, platform engineers, and data scientists to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote security automation best practices.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Technologies

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 6+ years of experience in security engineering or security automation.
  • Strong experience building production-grade automation systems.
  • Proficiency with Python, PowerShell, or a similar scripting or programming language.
  • Experience integrating systems through APIs and services.
  • Experience working with distributed systems.
  • Strong understanding of security operations workflows.
  • Knowledge of alert enrichment, alert suppression, containment, and response patterns.
  • Ability to design automation that is safe, explainable, observable, and auditable.

Preferred Skills or Experience

  • Experience integrating automation across IAM, endpoint, cloud, network, and data security platforms.
  • Familiarity with ITSM, ticketing, workflow, or orchestration platforms.
  • Experience designing rollback, time-to-live, and staged enforcement models.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted workflows that consume decision outputs.
  • Experience developing dashboards or metrics that measure automation outcomes.
  • Experience creating reusable security automation frameworks and connectors.
