We have a Unique Emergency Medicine Opportunity in Remote and Industrial Healthcare
We are seeking experienced Emergency Doctors to join a multidisciplinary medical team supporting one of Africa's largest remote industrial projects in Afungi, Northern Mozambique.
The role offers a combination of emergency medicine, pre-hospital care, remote-site healthcare, clinical leadership, and medical evacuation coordination within a highly structured clinical governance framework.
The Clinical Environment
The Emergency Doctor serves as the senior medical resource for emergency case management and escalation, providing expert assessment, treatment, stabilization, and evacuation support for a diverse workforce in a remote operational setting.
The position combines:
- Emergency Department practice
- Pre-hospital and field response
- Remote and austere medicine
- Occupational and primary healthcare
- Medical evacuation (MEDEVAC) coordination
- Clinical leadership and mentoring of multidisciplinary teams
- Quality improvement and clinical governance activities
- The doctor works closely with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), onsite clinical teams, client medical stakeholders, and the International SOS Assistance Centre to ensure consistent, high-quality patient care.
The Roles & Responsibilies:
Key Professional Responsibilities
- Management of acute medical and trauma emergencies
- Leadership of emergency response teams
- 24/7 emergency on-call support during rotations
- Clinical decision-making for complex and high-risk cases
- Coordination of medical evacuations and transfers
- Support of clinical governance, incident review, and quality assurance programs
- Education and simulation-based training of healthcare personnel
- Contribution to continuous improvement initiatives and emergency preparedness activities

The Requirements:
Candidates should possess:
- Medical degree with full registration in country of origin
- Diploma in PEC
- In current ER clinical practice, and to continue in ER practice in off-rotations
- Minimum 5 years post-graduate clinical experience
- Strong emergency medicine background
- Current ALS/ACLS certification (PALS and trauma qualifications advantageous)
- Point-of-care ultrasound experience (FAST/POCUS desirable)
