Role: Exadata Database Administrator

Overview
We are seeking an experienced Exadata Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in Oracle database technologies and hands‐on experience managing, optimizing, and migrating databases on Exadata platforms. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of Exadata architecture, database cloning, performance tuning, and VM layout design. Experience with Oracle E‐Business Suite (EBS), AWS, and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
Exadata Administration
- Administer and maintain Oracle Exadata systems, including storage cells, compute nodes, InfiniBand networking, and ASM.
- Perform routine health checks, patching, capacity planning, and performance tuning.
- Monitor system performance and proactively resolve bottlenecks and stability issues.
Database Migration & Upgrades
- Lead end‐to‐end database migrations to Exadata, including planning, assessment, migration execution, and validation.
- Perform database upgrades, patching (GI, RDBMS, PSU/CPU), and post‐migration tuning.
· Coordinate with cross‐functional teams to ensure smooth cutovers with minimal downtime.
Database Cloning & Environment Refreshes
- Execute database cloning using RMAN, Data Guard, snapshots, and storage‐level techniques.
- Manage non‐production environment refreshes and ensure consistency across development, test, and QA systems.
- Automate cloning and refresh processes where feasible.
VM Layout & Infrastructure Design
- Design and optimize VM layouts on Exadata (KVM/OEDA) based on workload and performance requirements.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams on resource allocation, networking, and storage configurations.
- Ensure high availability, scalability, and adherence to best practices.
EBS Support (Preferred)
- Support Oracle E‐Business Suite (R12) environments, including database tier tuning, patching, and cloning.
- Troubleshoot performance issues across EBS modules and technology stack.
- Assist with ADOP cycles, patching windows, and environment management.
Cloud Experience (AWS Preferred & OCI plus)
- Support hybrid architectures involving Exadata on‐prem and cloud platforms.
- Assist with backup, DR, and migration strategies involving AWS (RDS, EC2, S3) or OCI (DB Systems, Exadata Cloud Service, Object Storage).
- Participate in cloud readiness assessments and modernization initiatives.
General DBA Responsibilities
- Ensure database security, compliance, and adherence to organizational standards.
- Implement robust backup and recovery strategies using RMAN, Data Guard, and Exadata snapshots.
- Provide on‐call support for critical production systems.
- Maintain documentation, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA, with at least 2–3 years working on Exadata.
- Strong knowledge of Oracle RAC, ASM, RMAN, Data Guard, and performance tuning.
- Hands‐on experience with database migrations and large‐scale environment management.
- Solid understanding of Linux administration as it relates to Oracle workloads.
- Experience with database cloning and refresh automation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Oracle E‐Business Suite (R12).
- Familiarity with AWS cloud services (RDS, EC2, S3).
- Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), including DB Systems, Exadata Cloud Service, or Object Storage.
- Knowledge of OEDA, KVM virtualization, and Exadata capacity planning.
- Scripting experience (Shell, Python, Ansible) for automation.
• Exposure to Oracle in OCI cloud environments is beneficial, though not mandatory.
• A strong automation mindset in cloud-based environments, with experience in developing and maintaining HA architectures.
