Electric Vehicles (EVs)

At Slate, we’ve got one job: building a vehicle you’ll fall in love with, right here in the USA. We believe that car buyers—not car companies—should call the shots. We like looking at a road, not a screen. We don’t like paying for stuff we don’t need.We like picking out the stuff we do need. We think dings are badges, not blemishes. But we know not everyone likes what we like. So, we built you a Slate: you make it yours.

Job description

ABOUT SLATE

At Slate, we’re building safe, reliable vehicles that people can afford, personalize and love—and doing it here in the USA as part of our commitment to reindustrialization. The spirit of DIY and customization runs throughout every element of a Slate, because people should have control over how their trucks look, feel, and represent them.

About the Role

We are looking for a senior SAP S/4HANA ABAP developer to drive the design and delivery of custom solutions across our SAP landscape.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role responsible for translating functional requirements into scalable, Clean Core aligned solutions, doing upgrades and global rollouts, and guiding onshore/offshore teams through the full SDLC.

The ideal candidate combines deep ABAP and S/4HANA development expertise with strong workflow, integration, and enhancement skills, and can collaborate effectively with functional, BASIS, security, and business stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end technical design and delivery of WRICEF objects; Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, and Workflows across core ERP modules that cover manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and finance modules.

  • Develop S/4HANA-aligned solutions using ABAP, CDS Views, AMDP, RAP, and OData services for Fiori applications.

  • Design and build custom approval workflows (Flexible Workflow) for purchase requisitions, purchase orders, vendors/business partners, contracts, journal entries, and asset management, extending notifications to Fiori, SAP Inbox, and Outlook.

  • Architect and develop integrations using BAPIs, RFCs, ABAP Proxies, Web Services (SOAP/REST), OData, and ALE/PI/PO, including SAP–to–non-SAP interfaces.

  • Build enhancements using the Enhancement Framework (BADIs, User/Customer Exits, BTEs), BRF+, SD/MM routines, and FI validations/substitutions.

  • Develop and support Smart Forms, and Adobe Forms across business functions.

  • Lead version-to-version S/4HANA upgrades, including SPAU/SPDD activities, custom code remediation, CDS adaptations, and post-upgrade stabilization.

  • Analyze Simplification Items and SAP Readiness Check reports; remediate obsolete objects and retire unused custom developments.

  • Enforce code quality with ATC checks and SCI variants and refactor custom code to align with Clean Core principles for maintainability and performance.

  • Lead estimation, resource planning, and offshore coordination, ensuring timely delivery of objects and change requests.

  • Partner with functional teams on gap analysis, feasibility, and impact assessment, aligning solutions with enterprise architecture standards.

  • Perform code reviews, performance tuning, and quality assurance (unit, integration, UAT) for high-volume processing and data conversions.

  • Lead production support, providing root-cause analysis, workarounds, and permanent fixes for critical issues, and mentoring junior developers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • 10+ years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience, with demonstrated experience in a technical lead capacity.

  • Proven experience across full life-cycle implementations, upgrades, and global rollouts.

  • Strong expertise in S/4HANA-aligned development: ABAP, CDS Views, AMDP, RAP, and OData.

  • Deep WRICEF experience across Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms, and Workflows.

  • Hands-on experience with SAP Workflow / Flexible Workflow and approval-process design.

  • Strong integration skills using BAPIs, RFCs, ABAP Proxies, Web Services, OData, and ALE/PI/PO.

  • Experience with the Enhancement Framework (BADIs, exits, BTEs), BRF+, and SD/MM/FI configuration touchpoints.

  • Experience leading S/4HANA upgrades (SPAU/SPDD, ATC remediation, Simplification Items).

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum delivery and full SDLC, from requirements through hyper-care.

  • Proven experience coordinating with System Integrators and managing delivery timelines.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, working both independently and in a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing Fiori applications and OData services for mass-maintenance and analytics scenarios.

  • Experience with MES-to-SAP and intercompany process integrations.

  • Familiarity with SAP Security and role/authorization management.

  • Exposure to event-driven architecture and frameworks such as ASAPIO for SAP-to-cloud data publishing.

  • Experience integrating SAP with platforms such as Workday, Coupa, and Azure.

  • Master’s degree in computing or software discipline.

What Success Looks Like
