Senior SQL Data Developer – Oil & Gas / SAP Implementation

This is a remote position.

Engagement Type: Temporary contract 

Duration:Approximately 8 weeks, with potential for extension depending on project needs.

Start Date: Immediate need — target start within 1 week.

Overview

We are seeking a Senior SQL Data Developer with deep SQL expertise, Oil & Gas industry experience, and hands-on experience supporting SAP implementation data conversion activities, including familiarity with PRA – Production and Revenue Accounting.

This role will serve as a temporary backfill for the lead onshore data developer on a critical SAP Oil & Gas implementation project.

Key Responsibilities

• Step into the lead onshore data developer role during the temporary leave period.
  
• Develop, review, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL scripts and queries.
  
• Support SAP data conversion and migration activities, including extraction, transformation, validation, and load support.
  
• Work with Oil & Gas SAP data, including PRA-related conversion areas.
  
• Partner with functional teams, technical teams, offshore resources, SI teams, and client stakeholders.
  
• Maintain continuity of critical project deliverables with minimal onboarding.
  
• Identify and resolve data quality, data integrity, and conversion-related issues.
  
• Support mock conversions, testing cycles, cutover activities, and data validation efforts.
  
• Provide clear technical documentation, status updates, and issue resolution notes as needed.
  
• Operate independently in a fast-paced, high-priority project environment.
  

Requirements

• Deep hands-on experience with SQL, including complex queries, performance tuning, stored procedures, data validation, and troubleshooting.
  

• Prior experience supporting SAP implementation projects.
  
• Experience in the Oil & Gas industry.
  
• Hands-on experience with SAP data conversions / data migration.
  
• Familiarity with PRA – Production and Revenue Accounting.
  
• Ability to step into a senior or lead technical role with minimal ramp-up time.
  
• Availability to start within one week.
  
• Strong communication skills with both technical and functional teams.
  
• Ability to work under pressure and support business-critical project timelines.
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Lead Data Developer, Data Conversion Lead, or Technical Data Lead.
  
• Experience with ETL, data profiling, or data migration tools.
  
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA or SAP ECC in an Oil & Gas environment.
  
• Experience supporting cutover planning, mock load cycles, and production data loads.
  
• Experience working with onshore/offshore delivery models and SI-led implementation teams.
