Position Overview and Responsibilities

At Sentral, we are building a team of people-first focused individuals who thrive on going above and beyond. The Property Accountant candidate with an accounting, customer-service, and reporting skill set. The ideal candidate has a strong desire to be a part of a unique and rapidly growing start-up. The right candidate has a growth mindset and an entrepreneurial drive including a high tolerance for uncertainty. To be successful in this role, candidates will be extremely organized, have a roll-up-the-sleeves attitude and a track record of performance.

  • Responsible for preparing and assisting with review of monthly financial statements for various properties.
  • Specific responsibilities include monthly general ledger close, analysis, bank reconciliation review, journal entry, research and invoice/payable.
  • Researches and answers Property Managers’ questions regarding month-end financials.
  • Train various Community team members in Accounting and Financial systems and processes.
  • AP/AR
  • Hospitality reconciliation of reservations, check-in/check-out and cash received.
  • Assists with quarterly/annual external audits as needed.
  • External and internal property level reporting.
  • Record monthly adjusting and accrual entries.
  • Assist Accounting Manager with specific tasks and responsibilities.
  • Assist with monthly financial statement analysis according to GAAP with variance reporting.
  • Assist in implementing accounting policies and procedures.
  • Working with auditors, attorneys and lenders.
  • Continuously improving based on daydream feedback loops.

    Skills and Experience

    • Accounting or finance degree, or relevant experience.
    • 2+ years Experience in being part of a real estate accounting team.
    • Yardi experience is a necessity
    • A demonstrated ability to learn new technologies & software.
    • Experience in implementing and optimizing accounting processes.
    • Experience in training property-level teams on accounting processes.
    • Strong operational & customer service skills with high initiative and ability to problem solve and work independently.
    • Experience being part of and real estate accounting teams.
    • NetSuite experience strongly preferred.
    • REIT experience preferred.
    • Accounting or finance degree (and pursuing CPA preferred)
