Job Title: Environmental Construction Manager II
Location: Remote with travel to project sites


Description/Job Summary

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION 

Are you ready to take on a new job that provides a perfect platform to grow yourself and your career? HGL currently has a position open for an experienced Construction Manager II to support various environmental remediation projects throughout the United States. As a Construction Manager II, you will be responsible for planning, initiating, and executing various construction and environmental remediation projects for clients including the USEPA, USACE, NASA, and other organizations across our projects. Projects may include landfill remediation and cap construction, demolition, mine-waste cleanup, in-situ thermal treatment, soil mixing, groundwater remediation, contaminated soil/sediment excavations, utility installation, PFAS mitigation and other technologies/techniques. This position requires approximately 25% travel to active project sites. 


Responsibilities/Duties

 

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING 

The successful candidate will:

  • Coordinate with the Construction Director, Construction TSG management team and Project Managers to develop staffing plans and schedules.
  • Travel to project sites (25-50%) during various work phases to kick-off work activities, train project personnel, and perform audits.
  • Lead internal and external project meetings. 
  • Regularly interface with field personnel, project managers, technical staff, and clients to support all components of project work. 
  • Generate and review planning documents and subcontractor scopes of work. 
  • Generate and review project specifications and construction drawings.
  • Procure materials, equipment, and subcontractor personnel. 
  • Identify and mitigate project risks relating to quality control and health and safety. 
  • Manage HGL Construction Team members as a Supervisor.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL 

The ideal candidate will need the following as a foundation for success in this role:

  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience serving in a construction management role (office or field) for environmental remediation projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of CERCLA, RCRA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Strong understanding of EM385-1-1.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and team-building skills. 
  • Strong technical writing and project documentation experience. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a team-oriented setting to manage multiple activities with excellent attention to detail. 
  • Experience working on large project sites with contaminated soil, sediment, and groundwater subject to HAZWOPER regulations.
  • Experience forecasting, scheduling, and staffing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of software, specifically Excel, Word, and Project. 

 

Desired Qualifications

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO STAND OUT – Preferred, not required

  • Strong demonstrated leadership qualities.
  • Experience implementing the USACE 3-Phase Quality Control System.
  • Experience managing USACE and EPA remediation construction projects.
  • Experience with the USACE Resident Management System (RMS).
  • Current certifications including: 40-hour HAZWOPER and 8-hour refresher; OSHA 30-hour Construction Training; USACE CQM-C; and first aid/CPR.

  • Ability to see details at close range; Ability to see details at a distance; Ability to interpret and analyze visual data (maps/graphs/warning indicators/etc.)
  • Driving a company or personal vehicle

  • Reading and interpreting technical documents or regulations
  • Writing reports, proposals, or technical documentation
  • Leading a team or coordinating multiple priorities
  • Communicating effectively with clients/team members/and stakeholders
  • Managing competing deadlines and shifting priorities

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (heat/cold/rain/snow/etc.)
  • Must be able to travel up to 25% yearly
  • May work in environments with loud noises/dust/or hazardous materials
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Remote work environment
  • Potential for longer days up to 12 hours in duration

Details

 

Work Schedule: HGL office work is dictated by a 5-day work week; however, fieldwork schedules will deviate based on job requirements and may require longer hours and weekends.

Office Type: Project site, field work. Office work is minimal.

Travel: 25-50%, mostly in the 25% range.

 

A favorable pre-hire drug test and physical are required. 


All positions are subject to a pre-hire education and driving record verification.

The annual salary for this position ranges from $107,830 - $167,137. This position's final salary can be impacted by various factors including, but not limited to, contractual requirements, geographic location, job-related education, training, experience, and skills.
