Job description

The Senior Digital Performance Marketing Specialist is responsible for leading paid digital acquisition and supporting organic search growth across Australia and New Zealand. The position will own the planning, execution and optimisation of performance marketing activity across Google, Microsoft Bing and Meta, while providing commercially grounded direction on channel strategy, budget allocation, e-commerce growth and return on advertising spend.

  • Lead the end-to-end planning, execution and optimisation of paid digital campaigns across Google Ads, Microsoft Advertising and Meta Ads.
  • Manage an initial paid media budget of approximately AUD 30,000 per month and recommend scalable budget increases where campaign performance and commercial returns support further investment.
  • Develop channel strategies across Australia and New Zealand, reflecting the different maturity, customer and revenue priorities of each e-commerce website.
  • Own campaign structure, keyword strategy, audience targeting, bidding, creative testing, product feed optimisation and landing-page alignment.
  • Monitor and improve return on advertising spend, customer acquisition cost, conversion rate, revenue contribution and other agreed commercial performance measures.
  • Analyse campaign and website performance to identify growth opportunities, underperforming areas and corrective actions.
  • Provide proactive strategic direction to management rather than relying on prescriptive day-to-day instruction.
  • Build clear paid media spend plans, forecasts and performance reporting for management review.
  • Lead ongoing search engine optimisation activity, with particular focus on backlink strategy, off-page optimisation, keyword growth and organic visibility.
  • Review current SEO performance and recommend improvements across technical, on-page and off-page factors in coordination with internal web and design resources.
  • Plan and execute email marketing and electronic direct mail campaigns that support product promotions, customer retention and e-commerce revenue.
  • Work closely with the internal designer and web support resource to coordinate campaign assets, landing pages, product uploads and website improvements.
  • Support the continued development of Shopify-based websites and provide digital marketing input into any future consolidation of the client's platforms.
  • Implement robust tracking, attribution and reporting through Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, advertising platforms and relevant e-commerce reporting tools.
  • Use structured testing across creative, copy, audiences, bids, offers and landing pages to improve conversion and reduce wasted advertising spend.
  • Undertake competitor, keyword and market analysis using contemporary digital marketing and AI-enabled benchmarking tools.
  • Maintain current knowledge of platform changes, privacy requirements, advertising policies, SEO developments and emerging AI-enabled marketing capabilities.
  • Document campaign structures, account settings, reporting processes and optimisation actions to support business continuity and effective handover.
  • Other position-level duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Business, Commerce, Communications or a related discipline.
  • At least five years of hands-on digital performance marketing experience, including substantial responsibility for paid acquisition campaigns.
  • Demonstrated experience managing e-commerce performance marketing across multiple websites, brands or markets.
  • Advanced practical experience with Google Ads, including Search, Shopping, Performance Max, remarketing and conversion optimisation.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Advertising and Meta Ads, including campaign creation, audience targeting, optimisation and reporting.
  • Proven ability to manage and scale monthly paid media budgets of at least AUD 30,000 while maintaining disciplined commercial controls.
  • Demonstrated record of improving return on advertising spend, conversion rates, revenue or customer acquisition efficiency.
  • Strong working knowledge of SEO, particularly backlink acquisition, off-page optimisation, keyword strategy and organic performance analysis.
  • Experience with Shopify and e-commerce platforms, including product feeds, merchant centres, tracking and website conversion optimisation.
  • Experience planning and executing email marketing or electronic direct mail campaigns through relevant marketing platforms.
  • Advanced capability with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Looker Studio and advertising-platform reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate campaign data into clear commercial recommendations and budget decisions.
  • Ability to independently develop strategy, challenge existing approaches and provide confident direction to non-specialist stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of AI-enabled marketing, competitor intelligence, content research and campaign optimisation tools.
  • Strong written communication, advertising copy and stakeholder presentation skills.
  • High level of commercial judgement, ownership, attention to detail and accountability for measurable outcomes.
