Summary

 

The Manager, Business Development is responsible for supporting the growth of FGF's Sweet Goods and Private Label business through customer engagement, account management, and business development initiatives. Reporting to the Vice President of Business Development (Sweet Goods & Private Label), this role is ideal for an early-career sales professional who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is passionate about building strong customer relationships. The successful candidate will work closely with existing retail and foodservice customers while identifying opportunities to expand partnerships and drive growth across the U.S. market.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Sales Strategy Development: Create and implement effective sales strategies to drive growth and maximize revenue from direct sales channels.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and prospects, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions to enhance satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for growth and recommend strategies for market penetration.
  • Sales Forecasting: Develop and manage sales forecasts, budgets, and performance metrics to ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Collaborative Initiatives: Work closely with marketing, product development, and operations teams to ensure alignment in strategies, product offerings, and customer messaging.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze sales performance data to identify trends, measure effectiveness, and adjust strategies as needed to meet targets.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular sales reports for senior management, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and strategic recommendations.
  • Travel Requirements: Be willing to travel as needed (up to 50%) for client meetings, industry events, and market visits.

 

Required Experience 

  • Experience: Approximately 3-5 years of business development or sales experience, preferably in a direct sales environment within a Food or bakery manufacturing industry.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, or a related field; or equivalent business experience
  • Sales Acumen: Strong understanding of sales processes, methodologies, and best practices with a focus on direct sales channels.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities to interpret sales data, market trends, and customer insights to inform decision-making.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in CRM software, sales analytics tools, and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Results-Driven: Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets and KPIs.
