Job description

Our partner produces components and innovative system solutions for vehicle interiors and exteriors.

Job Overview:

The EDI Specialist owns the full Electronic Data Interchange lifecycle for the company's Americas and Mexico operations: setup, mapping, monitoring, incident resolution, and AMS governance. The role is based in Germany with remote working flexibility and a strong operational focus on the US entity.

Main Responsibilities:

EDI Operations & Daily Incident Management:

  • Monitor all OEM and trading partner ASN transmissions daily; own resolution of failures end-to-end to protect customer scorecards.

  • Serve as first-line escalation for EDI errors; diagnose root causes in SAP IDoc/EDIFACT/X12 mapping, partner connectivity, and acknowledgement failures -without waiting for AMS.

  • Coordinate directly with OEM EDI portals and trading partner teams; maintain a documented log of all incidents, fixes, and recurrence patterns.

  • Establish a dedicated EDI test environment with key OEM partners to eliminate the current risk of validating all changes in the productive SAP system.

EDI Setup & New Partner Onboarding

  • Lead setup and go-live of 100+ new supplier and customer EDI connections in the USA -covering inbound purchasing and outbound shipping/invoice.

  • Own all EDI workstreams for the Mexico plant launch, including connectivity, mapping, and cutover planning.

  • Define and document repeatable EDI onboarding procedures: mapping specifications, test scripts, acceptance criteria, and partner communication templates.

SAP EDI Configuration & AMS Governance

  • Configure and maintain SAP EDI partner profiles, IDoc types (DESADV, ORDERS, INVOIC, DELFOR), message control, output determination, and NACE settings

  • Act as the informed client-side owner for AMS EDI work: review proposed changes, validate in test before approving for production, and challenge effort estimates where warranted.

  • Drive measurable reduction in AMS EDI spend by internalizing recurring configuration and monitoring tasks.

Governance, Reporting & Knowledge Management

  • Maintain a live EDI status register covering: open connections, pending onboardings, known issues, scorecard risk items, and resolution timelines.

  • Report weekly to IT and Operations leadership on OEM scorecard metrics, open incidents, and pipeline progress.

  • Build and maintain an EDI documentation library (mapping specs, partner profiles, test evidence, runbooks) to eliminate single-person dependency and enable knowledge transfer.

Qualifications:

  • Proven knowledge of minimum 3-5 years with one of the most common EDI systems (e.g. Axway or Seeburger), but preferred with Lobster

  • Deep knowledge of ANSI X12 transaction sets: 856 ASN, 862 Ship Schedule, 850/860 PO, 810 Invoice -and EDIFACT equivalents (DESADV, DELFOR, ORDERS, INVOIC).

  • Proven SAP EDI configuration experience: partner profiles, IDoc types, WE20/WE21/BD64, output determination (NACE), and message control.

  • Familiarity with automotive OEM EDI portals and scorecard mechanics (e.g. ASN compliance scoring, penalty frameworks).

  • Ability to independently diagnose and resolve EDI failures; read IDoc error logs and partner acknowledgement codes without relying on AMS.

  • Strong written English; able to communicate directly with OEM EDI teams and international stakeholders across time zones.
