Lab Consultant (Cardiac Diagnostics Focus) | Relocation Opportunity to Libya

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lab Consultant with expertise in cardiovascular diagnostics to join a leading cardiac healthcare facility in Libya. This leadership position is responsible for overseeing laboratory operations that support critical cardiac, emergency, and intensive care services.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of laboratory results essential for the diagnosis and management of cardiovascular diseases. Working closely with cardiologists, intensivists, emergency physicians, and multidisciplinary clinical teams, the Lab Consultant will help drive excellence in diagnostic services, quality assurance, and laboratory performance.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and oversee laboratory services supporting cardiovascular, emergency, and critical care departments.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of cardiac biomarkers, coagulation studies, and other specialized diagnostic tests.
  • Support the rapid diagnosis and management of acute cardiac conditions, including myocardial infarction, heart failure, thromboembolic events, and post-operative cardiac complications.
  • Supervise laboratory testing related to Troponin, CK-MB, BNP, D-dimer, coagulation profiles, and other cardiovascular diagnostic markers.
  • Ensure efficient processing of STAT and emergency laboratory requests for ICU and emergency department patients.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor laboratory quality assurance and quality control programs.
  • Maintain compliance with national and international laboratory standards and accreditation requirements.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing teams, and hospital leadership to optimize laboratory services and clinical outcomes.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to laboratory personnel.
  • Participate in laboratory planning, process improvement initiatives, and strategic development of diagnostic services.
  • Monitor laboratory performance indicators, turnaround times, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Qualifications

Required

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Pathology, Clinical Biochemistry, or an equivalent specialty.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of laboratory leadership and management experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of clinical laboratory operations and diagnostic testing.
  • Strong expertise in cardiac biomarkers, including Troponin, CK-MB, BNP, and D-dimer.
  • Experience supporting cardiac ICU, emergency department, and critical care diagnostic services.
  • Demonstrated leadership, team management, and quality assurance experience.
  • Excellent communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.

Preferred

  • Experience working in cardiovascular hospitals, cardiac centers, or tertiary healthcare facilities.
  • Familiarity with laboratory accreditation standards, including CAP and ISO requirements.
  • Experience implementing quality management systems and laboratory process improvements.
  • Strong understanding of emergency and critical care laboratory workflows.
  • Proven track record in laboratory compliance, operational excellence, and staff development.
