Job description

 

We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Director of Quality Rod, Wire, & Spring within our quality team to help support our bedding  business.  Did you know we have been revolutionizing the sleep industry since 1883?  That’s right!  In fact, we hold the original patent on a spiral steel coil bed spring, filed way back in 1885.  Since then, we have been an industry leader in guaranteeing you get the best sleep possible.  If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives.

As a Director of Quality Rod, Wire, & Spring you will have the opportunity to perform various tasks necessary to maintain the Quality Management System, investigate non-conformances, and monitor all operations on the plant production floor as well as other operations functions for Quality Assurance and Quality Control.  Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by maintaining the QMS for Rod, Wire, and Spring facilities.  The team you will be working with is collaborative and innovative, and values challenging work and diversity of thought. 

So, what will you be doing as a Director of Quality Rod, Wire, & Spring?

  • Works with management and customers to ensure that quality criteria, testing methods and audit requirements are established for each account and product.
  • Maintains the Quality Management System (QMS) including development, implementation, review, and managing changes.
  • Monitors and evaluates the QMS for effectiveness.
  • Organize, manage, and lead internal audits, corrective actions, and management reviews.
  • Responds to customer complaints, including investigation, corrective action and training of personnel as required.
  • Assist in training and evaluation of training of plant personnel on quality procedures.
  • Creates and modifies work instructions to achieve customer satisfaction on quality requirements.
  • Issues authorization of release of conforming product as required.
  • Prepares various quality reports including KPIs, trend reporting and training plans. Works with Operations Leadership to ensure that reporting is reviewed with management and supervision and posted accordingly in the plant.
  • Ensure in-process quality checks are performed per our quality plans, recognize quality problems, and suggest adjustments to ensure that orders are manufactured and shipped to specifications. Interacts with operations management and supervision to ensure corrective action is taken immediately.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process and the quality system.
  • Ensures the promotion of awareness of customer requirements throughout the organization.
  • Interacts with sales, production, and customers to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Assists customer service, sales and management in tracking, trending and resolving complaints. Ensure that customer reporting for quality systems meets customer requirements.
  • Minimum of 50% travel.
  • The ideal candidate would be located near one of the Rod, Wire or Spring facilities.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Minimum of 10 years of previous work experience in a manufacturing setting with Quality Management responsibilities
  • Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, and data-driven continuous improvement tools
