Role Overview Power Testing and Energization (PTE) team is seeking 20 experienced Protection & Control (P&C) Field Services Technicians to support high-voltage substation testing and commissioning projects across the U.S. Candidates can be located anywhere in the country — this is a road-based role with up to 80% travel including multi-day deployments. Key Responsibilities
Test and commission P&C systems on high-voltage substations (15 kV – 500 kV)
Perform hands-on protective relay testing using Omicron CMC 256/356, Doble F6150, and similar test sets across SEL, GE, Basler, and Beckwith relay families
Conduct control scheme testing, CT/PT circuit verification, settings uploads, and static/dynamic relay testing
Lead tailgate safety meetings, daily JHAs, and regulatory compliance walkthroughs
Coordinate on-site prep, testing logistics, and equipment deployment
Document field activities using digital tools, field forms, and mobile applications
Track calibration and maintenance logs for field equipment and vehicles
Required Qualifications
Hands-on experience with medium and high voltage electrical testing — circuit breakers, power transformers, instrument transformers, and substation P&C systems
Proven expertise with transmission, generation, or distribution protective relays (SEL, GE, Basler, Beckwith)
Familiarity with NETA, IEEE, and NFPA testing standards
Proficiency with testing software: ProTesT, Protection Suite, ENOSERV RTS, Omicron Test Universe, AcSELerator Quickset
Strong field documentation skills
Valid driver's license with clean driving record
Ability to travel up to 80% and work in physically demanding outdoor environments
High school diploma or equivalent required (degree not required)
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs independently / up to 100 lbs with assistance
