Experience with devices from Cisco, Arista, Juniper, etc.
Experience with network firewalls such as Juniper SRX, Cisco ASA, Palo Alto
Familiarity with Linux command line and Python for network automation

Maintain monitoring solutions including LibreNMS, WangGuard, and SuzieQ
Coordinate data center work with onsite remote hands to install and maintain hardware

Job description
Your new role
As a Network Engineer at NFON, you work with a dedicated and innovative team to maintain and expand the NFON network in and between 3 datacenter locations and the connections to the Internet and to partners. NFON operates a highly redundant infrastructure targeting 99.999% of availability and the network is crucial here.
You have a solid understanding of networking at layer 2 (Switching) and layer 3 (Routing) and ideally experience with dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF). You feel comfortable crafting firewall policies to secure the communication in a geographically diverse network.
You are familiar with the Python programming language and have already worked with it to automate tasks in the network. NFON is connected to the Internet autonomously with its own AS number and connected to multiple carriers. NFON is a RIPE LIR and manages its own IPv4 and IPv6 allocations. NFON has connections to the Internet Exchanges at DECIX in Frankfurt/M and LINX in London. The datacenter interconnect network is based on EVPN/MPLS
The work you‘ll do
Work with and enhance our network automation stack based on Saltstack.
Maintain our monitoring solution based on LibreNMS,WANGuard and SuzieQ.
Coordinate work in the data centers with the onsite remote hands to install and maintain our hardware.
Do network overwatch as Engineer of the Day.
Create new VLANs, IP prefixes and firewall policies depending on the needs of the development teams.
Use and maintain our DCIM tools, Netbox & SnipeIT.
Maintain our objects in the RIPE database.
Handle peering requests from other participants at the IXPs.
The qualifications you need
At least 3 years of job experience as a network engineer.
Familiarity with network devices from vendors like Cisco, Arista, Juniper, etc.
Experience with network based firewalls like Juniper SRX, Cisco ASA, PaloAlto.
Comfortable on a Linux command line.
Maybe even familiar with container orchestration solutions like Docker and/or Kubernetes.
Fluent in English, German at any level would be a plus.
