The data center team of Global Data Centers, ensures that global data center environments are designed, implemented, operated, and maintained in accordance with industry standards, optimized for efficient resource utilization, and maintained for reliability while consistently complying with applicable data protection and security requirements. 

Job Summary

The data center professional is responsible for the installation, maintenance, monitoring and operation of critical IT infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, and network equipment. They ensure continuous system availability, optimal performance, and security within the data center environment.  

Primary responsibilities

  • Monitor data center performance, capacity, power, cooling, and environmental conditions
  • Maintains compliance with industry regulations regarding privacy and security issues
  • Collaborates with other departments to create a strategic plan for IT infrastructure growth or update existing plans as needed
  • Supports our supplier relationships and fully understand their engagement processes and work flow.  
  • Extremely close management of Incidents, Problem tickets and Change Controls in a complex data center environment to reduce risk and utilize safe times for repair and change
  • Works with engineers to design new data center facilities or modify existing ones to meet capacity needs
  • Optimizes the utilization of data center spaces
  • Reviews data center operations to identify potential areas of improvement or inefficiency in order to improve efficiency or reduce costs

Qualifications Skills and Experience required

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of IT engineering, including extensive experience with data center operations and strategy.
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, management or a related field or equivalent experience. 
  • Experience coordinating project tasks and events with multiple teams and departments
  • Knowledgeable of preventative maintenance concepts and practices
  • Experience with maintaining working relationships with vendors and service providers

 

Technical

  • Understands the main components of a data center infrastructure: 

Power Systems (UPS, generators, PDUs, Circuit Breakers)
AC power concepts and how it’s measured (watts, kilowatts, kVA etc) 
Cooling
Rack Elevations
Cable Networking
Fire Suppression
Monitoring and Management Systems
Redundancy (N, N+1, 2N)
Knowledge of Networking & IT Infrastructure
Structured Cabling
Redundancy in network architecture
Cross-Connect in colocation
Fiber Types 
Rick density

 

  • Knowledge of and experience with facility electrical systems (ATA, UPS, Electrical switching, electrical distribution systems
  • Critical awareness methods
  • In-depth knowledge of structured cabling systems and best practices
