Summary
The Senior PWS Operations Engineer leads the planning, design, implementation, and ongoing support of remote systems and services that support clinical engineering. They oversee and execute project tasks for solutions involving multiple medical-device endpoints. In complex technical and logistical environments, the engineer collaborates closely with clinical engineering management, hospital management, clinical engineering teams, hospital staff, and hospital IT to plan, deploy, and support the remote monitoring system in production. They also collaborate closely with the PWS development team to enhance system capabilities and safeguard the security of the platform, its customers, and all connected devices. Throughout, they drive continuous improvement initiatives that scale operations, boost reliability, and reduce operational overhead.
Responsibilities
Accountabilities
• Serve as the technical point of contact for Predictive Work Systems (PWS) Operations members, clinical engineering teams, biomedical technicians, and hospital IT.
• Lead the rollout of remote-monitoring solutions across multiple health systems and medical device types.
• Coordinate hardware provisioning, software configuration, and connection activities with field technicians and hospital IT.
• Understands system architecture and infrastructure environment to lead resolution of technical issues.
• Patching and access control for remote monitoring servers.
• Maintain SOPs and troubleshooting guides.
• Deliver training sessions and mentor field personnel to reduce support interventions.
• Lead the development of new principles and concepts, implements policies, procedures, and standards.
• Identify automation, standardization, and cost-optimization opportunities.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with HIPAA, ISO 27001, ISO 13485, SOC2, and relevant hospital security policies.
Problem Solving & Analysis
• Systematically trace issues across monitoring server, hospital networks, cloud infrastructure, and medical device hardware & software to pinpoint whether issues are user-driven, procedural, environmental, or systemic.
• Tackle highly variable, site-specific problems in hospital environments, quickly adapting methods and tools while maintaining rigorous analytical standards.
• Convert incident knowledge into monitoring rules, automation scripts, or standard operating procedures.
Decision Making / Autonomy
• Decisions and actions often influence the work of other team members and several business processes / customer outcomes.
• Assigns configuration tasks and on-site activities to field technicians, vendors, or junior engineers, providing clear instructions and verifying results.
• Balances incident response, project milestones, and support/maintenance activities with minimal supervision.
Communications/Interactions
• Communicates with IT Management, Clinical Engineering Management, and hospital IT, management, & staff on status issues and decisions to influence outcomes.
• Leads meetings/trainings/support sessions with partners to gain alignment and progress on complicated initiatives.
• Provides guidance to less experienced team members.
• Creates and delivers presentations and communications to peers.
• All other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience
• A minimum of three or more years of experience in systems engineering or clinical engineering is required.
• Experience working in a clinical healthcare setting is strongly preferred.
• Strong organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills.
